Personal background
I have been a SETI@home user as of March 24th, 2002. What have you been doing?

My age is irrelevant as long as I'm healthy, remember the past, enjoy the present, and envy the future. Living my entire life in the midwestern United States, my hobbies are diverse but they center around working with my hands; automotive tinkering, woodworking, photography, and computers.

My profile picture pretty much sums up my daily life more often than not, as I don't always make the progress on my projects that I expect to. ;*)
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I have followed with a strong interest, as anyone named "Curious George" would, man's exploration of space from the first manned space flights in the early 60s through the Shuttle disasters. Man's desire to explore new worlds and new frontiers is as old as the history of man, and should continue through the foreseeable future as long as the desire to learn and explore still exists. We may never know (ultimately) the origin of the universe, or even man himself, but the more knowledge is gained about our universe, the more we can learn about ourselves. With the vastness of space and time in our known universe, it is inconceivable that we are alone as intelligent beings with the ability to explore, learn, and grow as a people, as a culture, and as a civilization. Therefore, I applaud with sincere enthusiasm the SETI Project and the efforts to date. The eventuality of locating, and potentially making contact with another life form in our universe will shatter man's perspective of life, religion, and serenity forevermore. While this is a scary prospect for many, where would we be without the world explorers who dared to go against conventional ideas in the world of science or geography, and found out that the world is not flat. That the earth is not the center of the universe was a shocking revelation to most in its day of conception. I am convinced we are not alone, and look forward to the day it is confirmed by SETI.
