Personal background
I'm a student at the University of Arizona who basically wanted to help the world with a screen saver. I'm studying molecular and cellular biology and Spanish. I don't know if we're alone in this universe, but I wouldn't mind it if we wern't.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I don't know if extraterrestrial life exists. If it does, I think that it's more likely that they'll find us than the other way around. I mean, listening is one thing, but I think it would be more useful to start shooting out canisters with universal maps to earth and hope that someone/somthing finds it. I don't see a lot of danger as long as we treat whatever we find with respect. If we screw everything up by trying to conquer another species of life it could blossom into an intergalactic war and be the ultimate showing that racism does nothing but bring disctruction. I run seti at home because it give my computer a unique screen saver in my dorm at the University of Arizona.
