Profile: Ungruntled

Personal background
Born in Hastings, MI, and lived in various Michigan towns until 1974, when I joined the US Army. This august body stationed me at Fort Hood, Texas, and fell in love with Austin the first time I hitchhiked south for the weekend. I met my wife there, married her and her three children and had two more later (yeppers, that's five kids!). I worked for Motorola in various technical capacities for twenty-two years, until they downsized - again - in February 2002. As of this writing (10/30/02), I'm still between jobs.

I'm currently co-writing a children's fantasy novel in an effort to avoid rejoining the soul-sucking corporate world. My hobbies have included electronic design, writing, photography, amateur astronomy and writing.

I've been around the Sun 50 times now, but my subjective age is still more like 19. My inner child doesn't like mirrors much any more.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Do I think extraterrestrial life exists? You betcha. The chances that our own happy little dust mote is the only place life has made an appearance are, well, astronomically small, given the unimaginably broad sweep of the Universe. The idea seems amusingly egocentric; I seem to remember hearing Earth was the Hub of the Universe once, but you saw how _that_ turned out... ;)
