Profile: Tina H. O'Neill

Personal background
I'm 45 years old and re-married last year to wonderful man. I love computers and science fiction. My husband and I collect Asian Antiques, mostly Chinese. We live in Anchorage, Alaska

I am/was a Video Conferencing/Network Engineer. I worked for SAIC until I took medical leave earlier this year due to MS. I have had a small computer repair company for 8 years, besides the regular job. I still have the company and work on computers when I can, but mostly keep up my own network of 10 computers now. I have a son 18 years old, now working a temporary assignment for SAIC, who works for me too and I hope will take over the company someday soon.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I do think there is life out there somewhere. I hope that we discover it in my life time. You ask the possible benefits and dangers, well that is very subjective and depends on too many things to even begin to answer.

Should humans transmit a beacon? Yes and no, this is pretty mixed up place right now.

I run the Seti program and have been for several years now, in hopes of picking up a signal of some sorts. I think it is great idea to harness as many computers as possible to go thru all the data units. I have it running on 3 of mine.
