Personal background

I don't usually mention this, but to my eternal shame a distant paternal relative was sentenced to life on Earth. It's a long story, but he had a rough day at work and stopped off at the local for a couple of pints on the way home. One thing led to another, and before long the idiot was plastered. He managed to fire up his spaceship, but was picked up by a booze patrol just as he was leaving the atmosphere.

The entire family was exiled to Earth where we have been forced to associate with the local inhabitants. Needless to say, we've never lived it down. In fact, if we could remember where exactly we came from we'd give them a piece of our minds.

On another note, I've started documenting my relative's early life in a series of novels, beginning with the time he had an urgent cargo to deliver. There was this robot called Clunk, see, and...

But that's another story.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. I know it exists. I've got to discover it so I can give them a piece of my mind. I don't know, marooning us here for years like this. They ought to be sued. Dangers? They might not have a statute of limitations for drunk driving.

2. Yes, we darn well should. You can send what you like, but if I find the blighters first they'll need surgery.

3. I run Seti@home (Seti@Earth really, but I can't see you altering it yet) in order to get in touch with the people who dumped me here. I demand a retrial.
I think distributed computing is the best thing since extra-strong breath mints, but I think more computers should be distributed to me because they date too quick.
