Personal background
Since I was little I have been interested in Astronomy and have managed to keep the interest as a grown up. Instead of studying astronomy and physics I decided to go into electrical engineering and meanwhile work as an engineer for a global company in the field of energy distribution.

On the other hand, sometimes it might be better to follow an interest or a passion, but we have only one lifetime available up to now.

There is no way we are alone in the universe. All that giant space with so many wonderful features, only for a minor bipedaled species (as Captain Janeway would say). There are so many secrets still to be discovered..

I think mankind is currently being prepared for a peaceful alien first contact in the near future, hopefully still in my lifetime. Had it been hostile, they would have wiped us out already.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I run SETI@home as the sooner we find other life in the universe the faster things will calm down here on Earth, I hope. Finally, more people will realise that this is the only planet we are having and that we should work together and not get involved in our self centered, sometime meaningless disputes.
