Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Q. Do you think extraterrestrial life exists?
A. Yes.

Q. If so, when and how will humans discover it?
A. When "they" think we are ready to find "them."

Q. What are the possible benefits and dangers of such a discovery?
A. Well, a technology exchange would be groovy, but what if they just think we're a food source? Or vermin?

Q. Should humans transmit a beacon for others to find?
A. Heh. We already are. We generate lots of EMF noise.

Q. If so, what information should we send?
A. Well, we're most likely to be judged by the stuff we're already broadcasting. Scary, huh?

Q. Why do you run SETI@home?
A. My computer is on most of the time, anyways, so why not make it do something useful while it's sitting there?

Q. What are your views about the project?
A. It'd be a definite bonus to find ET life *before* they find us!

Q. Any suggestions?
A. Maybe you should re-consider your choice of ties. Paisleys are so 70's.
