1) Absolutely! Not in my lifetime, but probably in the future. If they're friendly, will be a boon to mankind. If not, see no. 2.
2) Before September 11, 2001, Absolutely! After the eleventh, not so sure. I live in NYC and saw the two tower burn and collapse. Will aliens be friendly? No guarantee they will be.
3) Am still optimistic about finding Seti. Wonderful project, with imaginative thinking and planning. Like the idea of distributed computing. This concept is now being applied in other areas of research, such as medical, etc. Should help areas were funding for computing power is low, but necessity is high.
