Personal background |
45 year-old armchair space explorer & wanna-be astronaut. I've been fascinated by astronomy & anything else to do with space - both fact & fiction - since I was a kid, & the wanderlust has never waned. Heinlein, Asimov, Bradbury, read 'em all.
Cheers to everyone else who has taken the time to participate in SETI@home, bravo! |
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
I find it imopssibly ignorant that in this day & age there are still those who believe we are the only life forms in the universe. My first arguement is - if so, what a horrendous waste of space! My second - one has only to look beneath our own flower gardens, or the closest tidal pond to prove the diversity of life on this planet alone is too broad to ignore the existence of even more diversity on planets in other solar systems. While we're at it, who defines "life"? Just because we could not survive in a particular environment does not preclude the fact that some life can. Ever try to breathe like a fish? |
