Personal background
I live in Irving Texas USA, I am 25 yrs old. Currently unemployed.
I wanted to be of some help to SETI, and saw their software called SETI@home!!
I am glad to lend my computer to assist in analyzing data! :-) Let's find some life!
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I do believe other life exists out there, how could there not be? There is alot of space out there, plenty of room!
I couldn't venture a guess as to when or how we will discover it, perhaps this program SETI@home will be what discovers it, let's hope so! :-)

The benefits to such a discovery?
Well, for one, we will know that we are not alone in the known (and unknown) universe. Second, we could share ideas and information about our different worlds (think of all the new things we will discover!).
Personally, any new thing learned - even if it is similar to what we have - is extremely important and exciting!
Are there dangers for such discoveries? Concievably, there could be. I would love to believe that if we discover new life, that they all would have peaceful intentions. But it is highly probable that we will eventually run into a hostile species. After all, our own species isn't 100% peaceful.

I would think transmitting a beacon for others to find is a worthwhile endeavor. Surely if other intelligent species exist, they will be looking (if not sending a beacon of their own) to see if other life exists in the universe besides themselves. Information to send? That is a toughie for me. Perhaps we could send them infomation on what ou planet is made of, all the different kinds of elements, minerals, gasses, etc. The number of planets in our solar system, the location of our planet in our solar system, the exact distance from our parent star, perhaps even a diagram of our system. I might even think about sending our current progress status (Information Age), But I wouldn't go into too much information there, at least not until we know a great deal more about them.

Why do I run SETI@home? Because I want to help in the search for other life.
I will be over excited when SETI does find that signal from another planet.
Let us all, scientist, and average citizen alike around the world, never give up the search for other life no matter how long it takes. For I DO believe that there is other life out the
