I am a practicing catholic in Miami Florida. I was born in 1945 and at my age I am the only one I know that takes any interest in any of this. I do not believe that we will make contact any time soon. However, there is a lot of good science connected to the SETI project and I find that it is worth the idle computer time that we assign to it. I was born in Cuba and went to La Salle School in Havana with the Christian Brothers. I graduated High School in Colorado and after a stint in the Army (Vietnam Vet) I got my BS from St. John's University in NY. I have 2 married children, 4 gorgeous grandchildren and in 2012 will celebrate 42 years of marriage.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I do not believe that we will make contact any time soon. However, there is a lot of good science connected to the SETI project and I find that it is worth the idle computer time that we assign to it. We do not need to fear what is out there. The universe was created by God through the Big Bang and who knows who or what may be out there.
SETI@home and Astropulse are funded by grants from the National Science Foundation, NASA, and donations from SETI@home volunteers. AstroPulse is funded in part by the NSF through grant AST-0307956.
