Personal background
Hello everyone

I am 23 year old male Earhtling from Denmark - here I study computer science and multimedia at The University of Aarhus. Obviously I am interested in computers and science in general, I am however (in my own opinion) not the the average nerd; I have a humanistic background from the Gymnasium ("Gymnasium", is the Danish word for high school). I also play the classical guitar, and love music in general (David Bowie would be my favourite artist at the moment).

For a long time I've wanted to support some "good cause", but I've never really gotten myself together and done something about it. Also being a student isn't exactly the most economic rewarding occupation, so there is not much left for "the good cause" in the monthly budget. Then one day I found this site, and my problem was solved. If I can't support economically at least I can support with a couple of CPU clock cycles and some RAM.

Being interested in both extraterrestrial AND artificial intelligence, I am currently programming a chess game (as a JAVA applet) - if you're interested in that check out AJ Online.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I have always been very interested the search for ETI - I think it all started when I saw my first Star Wars movie (yep, I know it is cliché - but nonetheless that is the case). In my younger years I went UFO hunting with a friend of mine, unfortunately without any luck - guess the aliens prefer larger countries ;).

Do I believe that ET life exists? Well, being a student in science I like to have proof for things before I believe in them. In one of my first lectures in Mathematical Analasys my professor said "Do not believe these things because I tell them to you - realize them because I prove them for you". So to answer the question - I don't know, but I believe it is very possible that aliens exist. I sincerely hope that some great breakthrough will happen in my life time.

I think that us Earthlings should do everything we can to improve the chances of finding ET life (big thanks to seti@home). In my oppinion we should modify our financial priorities and start spending much more for SETI and space missions. I believe we should colonize to other planets as soon as possible - we all know how many potential threats there are for planet Earth, so survival of the human race pretty much depends on it. It is really a gamble for our lives.

Lastly I would like to thank the people behind seti@home and least at all, all the people who run it.
