Personal background
Whadda ya wanna know? I'm in my 20's, Male, I live in a suburb of Chicago, Illinois, USA, I'm unmarried, have a cat named Mar-Lee, and I am a chronic Mt. Dew addict. I smoke, I drink, I play strategy games. I hate "Reality" shows and all daytime programming, love trivia and knowledge game shows, and probably spend way too much time on the Discovery Channels. That said, my favorite shows are the Simpsons, Farscape, and Spongebob Squarepants. (A 2 year old got me hooked, what can I say? Try watching it drunk if you REALLY want a laugh)

My PC situation at home is constantly changing, but I have an AMD XP-2400 (2.0G oc@ 2.3GHz) on an nforce2 board as may main brain, a 1.4Ghz P3/512 will be running soon. Plus a couple of 800 P3's, and a smattering of 3-6 other P5/PII/K6-2(&3) running between 300 and 500 MHZ. Do you care? Probably not, but this is what I do and who I am, so statements like those above should help prepare anyone who decides to strike up a conversation and doesn't speak 'PC-geek'.

Now using the GUI version of SETIQueue - It is AWESOME. Plus no proxy problems!
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Of course every working box I have runs the SETI@Home client 24/7 and proxy connects to a on-request dial-up connection to deliver WU's and get new ones. Why I am so driven to complete WU's I do not know, but I'm sure some of you know the feeling.

I don't think it is for the chance at finding ET, although that is certainly a cool bonus. No, my drive and ambition regarding SAH is based much shallower. It is either a desire to build the "1 Hour WU" PC and accumulate as many stats as possible, or it might be simply that I just really like the pretty colors as the client software runs it's algos...

i.e. If ET came to my house, I would probably show him/her/it the pretty colors on my SAH screen saver. :-)

So what is SAH to me? A Benchmark, Art, Pretty Colors, and a nagging self-challenge to finish WU's faster. Don't get me wrong though... If we do find ET, the party will be at my house. (and the surrounding half mile radius if user stats on here are any indication)
