Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I find the distributed process methodology utilized by the SETI@Home program a fascinating conceptual approach to analyzing vast quantitites of data. In effect, the throughput of the resultant processed data is as if several super computers had crunched the numbers but without the super costs associated with the large computers and a super efficient utilization of otherwise unused processing time on home personal computers.

Given the infinate numbers of galaxies, solar systems and probable planetary systems in the universe; it is likely there is intelligent life out there somewhere. If they are as inquisitive as we are then they are likely broadcasting some sort of radio transmission that we will be able to detect and possibly learn how to communicate with them.
