Personal background
I live as far south as you can and still live in the United States; the Florida Keys. Our island is 5 miles long and 3 miles wide; it makes for "cozy" living. You get to know your neighbor very well.
You have to love the water, and most water sports as well as eating what comes from the ocean. If you're looking to shop at the mall, late night nite clubs, and the drive in, go elsewhere.
I am self-employed, selling consumer electronics, installing satellite dishes for television and satellite Internet.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
The vastness of space leads me to believe that there must be other life in the universe. I think it is our own inability to comprehend just how large the universe is and the countless possibilities that are out there, that limit us.
I am not sure if “we” will ever contact or detect intelligent life, however looking, in our own crude ways certainly can’t hurt. What will be the true test is, if we happen to come across intelligent life what we do with that information and how we treat these new friends. Our history shows how mankind has treated others of our own kind.
I was just wondering if it takes intelligent life to detect intelligent life?
Seti is running on several computers at home as well as at work, one day, or should I say, to quote Mr. Mel Fisher, “This is the day” we find out that we are not alone.
Thousands of years ago everyone Knew we were the center of the universe, hundreds of years ago everyone Knew the world was flat, and ten minutes ago everyone Knew we were alone in the universe…imagine what we’ll Know tomorrow…
