| ETs exist as sure as life exists on Earth. However, I am rather uncertain whether the current SETI search techniques can succeed in a reasonable period of time. Regardless, I support SETI because the gains for mankind are far greater than the energies that we put into these efforts. The chance of finding civilizations communicating via microwave is almost certainly non-zero. Diligence and the appropriate application of technical advances -- like seti@home -- may eventually succeed. |
