Profile: Scipio

Personal background
I am a high school senior from Tulsa, Oklahoma. I spend most of my time reading or playing Dungeons and Dragons along with other pen and paper RPGs. I also study history, as I'm sure you've guessed by now, and specialize in the Roman period. My name is taken from Publius Cornelius Scipio, the Roman general from the 2nd Punic War who defeated the Carthaginian Hannibal Barca on the plains of Zama.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I believe that extraterrestrial life exists, even if only from a statistical point of view. I mean, after all, the universe is huge and it would be almost impossible for life to have only evolved on one planet out of the countless worlds out there.
It is important for us to transmit a beacon of some sort, otherwise other intelligent life would never be able to locate us, assuming that they are looking of course. What is included in that beacon doesn't matter much, it could just be a repeating pulse in the form of the first 10 or so prime numbers, which could form a common starting point for 2 different civilizations, as math is universal.
