Profile: Jasina

Personal background
I was born in Saginaw, Michigan. . . as the old song goes. I've lived in Michigan all my life, and can't picture myself living anywhere else. I think Michigan is the prettiest state in the US, and I love living here where I can watch the seasons change and be surrounded by the Great Lakes.

I'm a twenty-five year old girl, engaged to a wonderful man. He's fun and funny, and puts up with all of my stress-inducing habits, which says a lot for his patience. I work as a technical trainer for a national telecommunications company. Some days my job is very interesting, some days it's very frustrating. For fun, I like to garden, read, write in my journal, and pass the time with good friends.

Some people find me unapproachable, stand-offish, or downright snippy, but mostly I'm just shy! Once I get to know someone, I can often get myself into trouble by speaking before thinking, and I tend to be a little more sarcastic than is absolutely necessary.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I can't understand people who say that we are alone in the universe. To me, it's just a mathematical impossibility, not to mention a horribly boring viewpoint. I do hope that we are able to make contact with alien life while I'm still here to witness it, but I also hope that our society becomes more open-minded and accepting in general before it happens.

I think the SETI@Home program is brilliant, and I love being able to donate my spare computer resources to the search.
