| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |

| The statistical probability of there not being extraterrestrial life is so minute, it seems impossible to believe that we're the only ones in the universe. An ET lifeform will determine that we're worthy of contacting, and make the first contact. This will forever change the future of humanity. There will probably be a massive panic at first, but eventually the entire human race will have to unite and begin expanding the next frontier. We should transmit a beacon for alien life, to show that not only are we intelligent, but that we are a progressive race, and worthy of a relationship and exchange of ideas. We should transmit a mixture of Musical tones, mathematical equations, and a foundation of our written language -- maybe in the form of pictures. Da Vinci's Human Form drawing should also be sent. A Naval contractor introduced the SETI@HOME project to me while I was on assignment. The idea accomplishes the ability that no single lab could ever achieve. The project should reap a great reward. |
