Personal background
Born in San José Costa Rica in 1975. In 1993 I had my first e-mail account, and Unix based systems where the only way I could send a message; back then, I could only use a non-graphical terminal. By july 1999, I became engineer at Instituto Tecnológico de Costa Rica, my major was on Ingeniería en Mantenimiento Industrial, also know as Electro-mechanical engineering. Two months after that, I became part of Radiográfica Costarricense SA (RACSA), a company dedicated to networking in Costa Rica (ISP/VPN/...). Here I am responsible for the physical planing and security improvements in our facilities and networks, and also, with the help of my boss, responsible for the network management systems and also as network designer.
It was in january 2001 when I first heard about SETI@HOME... I am a corious person, who thinks that we are not alone in the universe... My hobbies are based in one couple of thoughts: I respect life and I value life as a precious gift we should take care of.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Finding life out of this world far far away means that we are a young living form, and we should think that improvements in technology and knowledge shouldn't be based in war, but in sharing information. As SETI, sharing is the secret for finding clues, because everyone involved is helping.
I think that if we transmit a beacon is because we want to be found, is that happens, we should send geometrical patterns based on simple signals clearly recognizable from the noise in the background.
I run SETI@HOME because I believe in working together without wanting a revenue; and also because if we find live in other places, that means that we could be half of the way to our new closest friends (unless they were here already :P)
Suggestions??? Sure!!! GANBARIMASHO!!!
