Profile: David Riese

Personal background
I am an associate professor in the Department of Medicinal Chemistry and Molecular Pharmacology at Purdue University. I teach pathophysiology, quantitative bioanalytical chemistry, and pharmacology to pharmacy students and I have an active, extramurally-funded research program focused on studying the mechanisms of breast, lung, pancreatic, and prostate cancer. We are particularly interested in developing new therapeutic and diagnostic agents. My personal web site is http://www.mcmp.purdue.edu/Faculty/Riese.shtml
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I am quite confident that extraterrestrial life exists. However we may never discover it because of the vast size of the universe. Nonetheless, I believe that searching for extraterrestrial life is a worthwhile pursuit, particularly given that unused CPU cycles are used for the search.
