Personal background
I am a software developer from San Jose, CA in my late 20's. I am a big fan of space exploration and spend a lot of time watching anything and everything related to space and the universe.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Why do you run SETI@home?
I always think and wonder about the big basic questions. Are we alone?, What's out there?, Why are we here? ... I fail to understand how many people don't wonder about these things.
If I can do anything to be a part of answering these questions, I am up for it and that is why I run SETI@home

What are your views about the project?
I am a fan of the project and the idea of crowd sourcing the processing is great. Also the software is pretty good and the processing customization options are great.

Any suggestions?
I think it would be great if you have some kind of sandbox or docker version of the Boinc software. I have ~5 powerful machines which mostly idle at my work but I can't use them for Seti@home since I can't install Boinc there on the native OS. I am sure there are many other people who have restrictions on installing the software on their machines but are willing to share hardware resources if there is a way to do it.
If you can release a self contained version (like docker, vm, live os etc..) which does not mess with the base OS and runs in its own sandbox, that will be great. I think the idea should be to just use the hardware resources on a machine with minimal or no installs and modifications to its OS.
Also some sort of inbuilt VPN would be great if possible since many of us are sometimes not comfortable revealing our true ip and location.
