Personal background
I'm from Lorain, Ohio. 46 and a RN for 16 years in critical care, in a hospital. My dad and I love looking into the night sky. We have a telescope and will take it outside and sit in the cold just to look up into the night sky. We recieve several magazines on space and it is a topic we dicuss all the time. Sometimes I wonder if I am in the wrong field.
I belong to several nasa sites on the internet and they have so many projects going on, I never have enough time to explore them all. But I make time. I have read many books on; the universe, space, branes, quantum physics, string theory , M theroy, partical acclerators ect... We find these thing very interesting. I read them and then explain them to my dad. It's great. You can never read a book just once. I just finished 'The fabric of space and time'; Brian Green, for the second time. One more time to go.
There are so many things in every day life that most people take for granted or don't care to understand. This stuff is never boring. We can never learn enough. Right now I am interested in super gravity. And I am waiting to see if the T.O.E. will be M-theroy. I have been involved with Seti at Home since 1999 and tell all my friends to sign up. I am new to this Boinc site. It will take some time to become familiar with everything.
I've started to read; Leonard Susskind and James Lindesay's 'black holes, information and the string theory revolution' and am having somewhat of hard time with it. I'll just keep trying.
And lastly, my dad and I have both seen UFO's. So, we know they are real.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
No suggestions. I run it at home because I think it is meaningful. It is well worth the time. I believe that a signal will be picked up. I tell everyone about it. I know for a fact that three of the doctors I work with have added it to their computures. That makes me feel good because this is important and there is so much space to cover. Every little bit helps.
