Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I do think that extraterrestral life exists, universe is to vast so there must be other places were intelligent lifeforms have developed. I think Drake's equation is pretty much a good idea of the possibilities of ET life. When and how will we discover it? That's a tough question, about the how question, i'm pretty shure that radial transmission will be the media because si the quickest , cheaper (energically speaking) and safest (compared to phisical encounter). About when, I think there must be still major development of technolgy wich will allow to scan and process bigger parts of the sky.

Humans should transmit because since we are interested in finding other intelligent forms that might not know about us, staying quiet just listening is not the best way finding if there are other out there.

I run Seti@home because i liked the project since i heard about it. I think the search for extraterrestrial life must be a structured scientific effort, not directed by the pseudoscientific people who say that the circles in the wheat are the answer to our call.

The Seti@home is a great project that has proved a new way of distributed computing and and has proved also that people with similar interests can join effotrs to contribute to science. As a suggestion you should send a newsletter to the users with information about the status of the project and some important information or requests of what can we do for help.

Regards.
