Personal background
Greetings from Fullerton, California!

Will Hart here.

I'm in my 65th. year, and retired now, from my mostly Rockwell Collins Aerospace Manufacturing and Environmental jobs; and I'm spending most of my time being an Admin for several web sites and Facebook groups devoted to the late author, H. P. Lovecraft, under the "CthulhuWho1" nickname (which also celebrates my interest in the British television series, Dr. Who). Lovecraft, as a very young man in the early 1900's, used to spend time at the Ladd Observatory of Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island; and, from the time he was 13 in 1903, until he was 20 in 1907 , he also published an amateur Astronomy paper called, The Rhode Island Journal of Astronomy; of which, sixty-nine issues still exist.

But I'm also a Life-long believer that we are far from "alone" in our Galaxy, our Universe, and whatever Multi-verses there might be beyond our ability to see or detect them. And I have always been inspired by Carl Sagan's and Neil deGrasse Tyson's words on our relationship to our "Cosmos."

I'm also very aware of the vast distances between stars, and the unlikely possibility of our technological level matching up with a "nearby" neighbor at a similar level, at the same time as us.

So I know we might be too primitive to detect or understand the communications of other intelligent beings; but I am proud that we are making an effort to do what we can to find signs or signals from "others" with the tools we currently have available.

Maybe it's my age, and an awareness of my own mortality, or the realization that my computer, that's on most of the time, could be doing something worthwhile, that could be far more important than my daily literary efforts, that has finally steered me into joining the SETI@home project; but whatever the reason, I'm finally here in 2017!

I've also joined the SETI.USA team, so I can be part of something far greater than just myself; and I would be beyond proud if anyone in this team "discovered" the very first confirmed and verified true other-worldly signal!

But I'd be proud of anyone, from any team, or even on their own, working with SETI@home, that made that "discovery" too!

I'm hoping (like everyone else), that the official headline-worthy signal will be found before my time is up on my current Earth-bound assignment; not that I truly mind returning to wherever I came from...

I'm still very new at using SETI@home and SETIspirit (I'll hit 40,000 credits today), but I'll keep adding as much processing time to the pool as I can until my computer or I give out...

They aren't SETI related at all, but if anyone reading this is interested in my online Lovecraft-related activities, including some of my audio performances, please visit any of the following links:

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Why do I run SETI@home?
I think we are getting very close to finding a signal, with Breakthrough Listen, Kepler and other systems helping us to focus on some of the best targets; and I want to be able to share in the group pride when it happens.

What are my views about the project?
I think that with the Allen Telescope Array, the new Laser SETI project, and the new funding from Breakthrough Listen and others being added to the tools and support of SETI, we are now in the best position ever to finally find what we are all looking for!

Any suggestions?
Everyone, that is part of the SETI project, needs to find new ways to work with all of the Social Media services, like Facebook, Twitter, etc., to get them to repeatedly spread the word about the importance of the SETI project; and to explain that they need to do this as a free PSA (Public Service Announcement), because it is being done for everyone on the planet. Radio and Television stations across the country need to also be encouraged to spread the word too; so donations can pour in from everywhere.
