Profile: Jim Murphy

Personal background
I'm a 63 yr old Army Veteran, Retired 30+ yrs Computer Technician/Electronics Technician/Network Administrator, been using Unix/Linux for the past 20+ yrs now (can't stand Windoze!) I like tinkering, out doors, and as my Father always says, I'm generally a jack of all trades and master of none, LOL! I enjoy life, learning, and just taking it easy. Here are 4 of my favorite sayings that I live by, "Don't believe anything you hear, only half of what you see, always ask why, use the brain that God gave you and think about it.", "You can do anything you put your mind to, 90% is believing that you can and the other 10% is just getting off your lazy ass and doing it.", "You are only as good as your word and if that is no good, what does that make you?", and finally "Life is great, it's the people in it that screw it up!"
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I have been fascinated by space as long as I can remember. I got my first telescope for Christmas when I was 12 yrs old and spent that night outside and nearly froze to death scanning the sky. Any person with at least one iota of common sense should know that we couldn't possibly be all that there is in this vast universe so, why not help and prove the point.
