Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
ET life exists without a doubt. We would be arrogant to say that we are the only life out there. When will first contact occur, I hope in my lifetime. Come to think of it, ET might discover us first, I wouldnt be surprised if they havent. Are they among us, Ill leave that up to ones imagination and hollywood. Possible benefits, universal colonisation... just kidding. World peace, I hope. Knowing that we are not alone would be a good reason for all people and nations to unite. Death to religious principles is a bonus, after all, having ET in the flesh would certainly put the debate on the existence of God at rest as well as the many other headaches that come with God and religion. Advancement in technology will follow. It would be awesome to be able to travel among the stars. Dangers... if Star Trek is anything to go by, the dangers are all there in the original series, the next generation, deep space 9, voyager and enterprise. You must think Im a dreamer... well, sue me.

I think us humans have been sending signals ever since the first radio signal was transmitted. We are making a lot of noise for the universe to hear. Leading on from that, I think we have sent enough information for ET to know about us. What more can we give...

I run SETI@home because I like science and I want to be part of the project, something that contributes to the advancement of mankind, well... the civilised version of mankind. My view on the project,... human ingenuity at its best I reckon. Suggestions... my being part of the SETI project is all I can say for that.
