Personal background
In a word, I'm a pessimist. It keeps me sane; after all, if the worst happens, I've been expecting it and there's no loss of moral...if the best happens, hey, extra moral boost! ^_^

Interests: Anime, Sci Fi, Science, Customer Service, Military Service, GAMES GAMES and MORE GAMES.

Current employment: Harvey's (Fast Food)

A bit of background: Now, before you say 'Oh, another dropout' I had a good reason. My stepdad (who passed away on my Birthday a year ago) had cancer, and it flared up so badly he couldn't work anymore. So, I left school and went full time in the Reserves...things went sour with them, and I tried security for awhile (A job I won't be taking ever again), and now I'm fast food...I don't intended to stay in Fast Food, but it's all I can do at the moment.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1: I've always believed that it's highly improbable that we're alone in the Universe. My firm belief is that if there's life that's more advanced than us, we'll encounter it when IT wants us to, not before.

Right now, it's not a good time...the planet is (again) on the verge of war, and this time it could have nuclear consequences. If we were to suddenly discover ETI (Extra Terrestrial Intelligence) it would turn the whole world topsy turvey, and could cause things to snap...so now is NOT a good time.

2: Transmitting a beacon at the moment isn't such a good idea...let them find us, for now...when the world is more stable, THEN would be the time to send out a beacon.

3: As for seti@home, I believe it's possibly the best idea anyone could have come up with. By combining our reasources, we can map the universe more quickly, and increase the chances of finding ETI within out collective life times. I WISH, however, they would make it possible to devout more comp resources to the project; I'd happily give it the bulk of my processing power, given the option.
