I live in Las Vegas with my wife. I'm fully disabled, homebound, and unable to walk due to Multiple Sclerosis
I spend a lot of time using computers and the internet for everything.
I'm 49, and hobby just about everything to one degree or another on the internet. From games, to simulations, movies, reading, writing, social networking, even DJ'd for awhile.
I come from a strong musical, audio, studio background, and have always loved things of science. I studied astronomy (solar system and interstellar) years ago, and also performed long term exposure
shots with noise elimination software to look way out there (from a observatory on top of the science building at UNLV - it's amazing that noise cancellation software could remove the light noise of Vegas so well...THOSe that programmed that software definitely deserve a nod).
...My work history begins with 4 years stations at Detachment 18, 1 ECRG (Sac) Forsyth, Montana, followed my many years of defense contracting work on the live fire ranges of Nellis Air Force Base. I've also done work at Fort Irwin near Barstow for the Army. I'm a Desert Rat thru and thru and seen all of southern nevada. As for SETi? do i believe life exists elsewhere? sure do. Only caveat is this - any culture able to inven high speed inertialess travel to get here, no doubt has command of technology to be cloaked if they choose.
So, we are being watched unobserved; but signals coming from distant worlds? One wanders if they're being blocked? but that's not an excuse not to try. So I'm all for it.
Maybe it is just damn difficult to detect for even our level of tech now; maybe the oort cloud or heliosphere does a damn good job of blocking out signals. Natural phenomena could be at work. Who nose? :)
