Profile: Amy Marie

Personal background
I am a current undergraduate student working toward a career as a professional astronomer and poet.

I wish I could say it was my childhood dream to be an astronomer. The reality is that I did not recognize this ultimate goal until college. On the first day of my first astronomy course, the professor used balls to represent the relative sizes and distances of objects in our solar system. It dawned on me that the scale of the universe fascinated me and always would. I still desire to learn more about not only our own solar system, but other stellar systems as well.

Meanwhile, I have been writing poems by hand, and by typing, since before college. Each year brings me closer to publishing them.
