Might I suggest you create a folder and put you project ID's and such in it so your hunting days will be over.

3) Questions and Answers : Windows : BOINC Died!! (Message 26821)

You need to un-install BOINC and deleted all Boinc folders in programs files, then re-booted and download 4.5. I down loaded 4.5 from BOINC/Seti.
If your running just one project, you might want to go to your account, Preferences/SETI@Home, and setup your Separate preferences for home also.
If you are running more than one BOINC project make sure you have your preferences set the same for all projects.
I had climate prediction preferences setup with separate preferences for home and BOINC/Seti setup with out the separate preferences for home. It would show in my task bar for a second and then dissappear. Switched both projects to the same preferences and it stopped it's dissappearing act.
I guess you have to have both projects setup to the same preferences.
I hope this helps.

I am getting the same on multiple w/u's being down loaded.
Not all of them tho. The w/u's will show up under the work tab. But when manual up-date, they disappear.

I just upgraded to BOINC 4.05. The BOINC icon appears in the system tray for a brief moment on boot, then disappears. If I launch BOINC from the START menu the same thing happens. Boinc 3.19 worked fine on this PC (even after SP2 upgrade). I have tried to install over exixting install as well as remove and reinstall the software - with no success. If I go back to 3.20 the icon shows in the system tray. Any suggestions?

Splitters;
SETI@home looks at 2.5 MHz of data, centered at 1420 MHz. This is still too broad a spectrum to send to you for analysis, so we break this spectrum space up into 256 pieces, each 10 kHz wide (more like 9766 Hz, but we'll simplify the numbers to make calculations easier to see). This is done with a software program called the "splitter". These 10 kHz pieces are now more manageable in size. To record signals up to 10 KHz you have to record the bits at 20,000 bits per second (kbps). (This is called the Nyquist frequency.) We send you about 107 seconds of this 10 kHz (20kbps) data. 100 seconds times 20,000 bits equals 2,000,000 bits, or about 0.25 megabyte given that there are 8 bits per byte. Again, we call this 0.25 megabyte chunk a "work-unit." We also send you lots of additional info about the work-unit, so the total comes out to about 340 kbytes of data

Scheduling Server;
This Server coordinates the work that is issued to make the best use of the computers available to process the work that is ready for issue. This is a project specific server and may be referred to as the "Project Scheduling Server".

Transitioner
This program is supplied by BOINC and is application independent. It handles state transitions of workunits and results. It generates initial results for workunits, and generates more results when timeouts or errors occur
