I wonder what the tension onboard the ISS is like. I even read somewhere that Putin is considering bringing all the Russian crew down and then attempt to de-orbit the space station.

I still can't help but wonder what it is that the Ukraine has that Putin so desperately wants, or is it just the need to be the big bully on the block. He is ruining Russia's economic condition including his own and all his cronies.

Another way to look at it. Say the world is just one big chess board. I don't see a piece left on the board that is worth risking everything for. Except for the extremely irritating natives of the middle east and a certain madman sitting next to China pretty much everyone else around the world is willing to play with the pieces dealt to them. What's the point of having it all if there is no one else left to bully?

Isn't Putin one of the richest men in the world? What kind of person would risk all that just for power. He can't really believe that Russia was at risk of being invaded. By whom and for what? I really hope no one believes the USA or any of it's allies desires to conquer Russia. I don't see how he can convince the Russian people or anyone else for that matter that Russia is in danger from anyone except maybe himself. There are a lot of rich politicians in Russia who all risk loosing their fortunes following a bad decision from their leader.

I hope I am wrong and the rest of the world outside of Russia has enough backbone to force Putin to back down. It would be a first in world politics and that is why I don't see an outcome that will leave anyone with a warm fuzzy feeling about eastern europe.

So, I guess that means that all of the YouTube videos that depict everyday life in Russia is pretty much the same as it is anywhere else in europe or at least eastern europe is just well supervised propaganda choreographed to appear like things are better than they really are. I would have hoped that exposure to a freer way of living would have spawned a need for more freedom in everyday life.

Is it possible that the Russian people over the last twenty years or so have been exposed to the western world enough to resist a move to put things back the way they were during the cold war?

One question. In the long or short run has appeasement ever worked? The best that could be said about Neville Chamberlain's appeasement actions was that they bought some time for England to arm up.

Unfortunately the down side of putting so many satellites on top of one launch vehicle is if the launch vehicle fails to deliver said satellites to the designed orbit a lot of valuable hardware gets trashed. I haven't done the research so I don't know how many of these launches have failed or partially failed. If this is the only one then I guess it is a minor loss.

Just heard that forty of the jast forty nine satellites spaceX launched will be deorbiting due to an exceptionally strong solar storm affecting the upper atmosphere

All this sabre rattling is really unfortunate. If for no other reason than showing the world that life in Russia is very similar to living in the west "You Tube" has shown me that everyone has a lot to loose if a full on war breaks out in eastern europe.

What got me to try an impossible burger was an interview with a vegan. She said the impossble burger was so much like meat that it made her gag. That was enough of an endorsement for ne to give it a try.

Maybe with your endorsement I'll give it a try. You wouldn't be yanking my chain would you.

i have to admit that I haven't tried the "impossible" whopper since I believe that an all vegetable meat patty is impossible.. Maybe someday food chemists will be able to create substitute meat to be served in FTL spaceships.

If and when food chemists can make plant based material look and TASTE like beef, pork, chicken, turkey and etc. I would be willing to give them a try. The last time I tried vegetable based artificial meat I concluded that they have a long way to go before fake meat will fool most people. I would love to see the day when livestock is kept only to show the way we used to live.

Bob,

Does that mean you've lost the chance of starting a DeWoodyWich chain or are you still going ahead with it?

Stranger things have happened. I think I would call it the woodburger. But no, at the age of 72, I have no interest in starting a fast food chain.

The other day I was going to fix myself a hamburger but discovered I was out of frozen hamburger patties. But I did have some burger size sausage patties, So I cooked a sausage pattie and fixed what was otherwise a hamburger with all the trimmings. It was delicious. I am surprised that as far as I know, no restaurant offers this type of sandwich.
