Are we dead yet. Lately that's what I have been waking up in the morning wondering. Putin's dying from cancer so what the heck has he got to loose by pushing the button?

It amazes me how these brainiacs can get millions for research into subjects like the existence of time and space. But I guess if they can satisfy themselves that time doesn't exist then they don't have to worry about the really important things.

If it can be proved that any form of life started that early on earth then it should be a slam dunk conclusion that life is all over the universe.

If Putin uses just one teeny weensy little tactical nuke hell will have no fury like what he will get next. I just hope that world leaders will see through whatever clever plot he twists to make it look like the Ukrainians did it. I ordinarily don't condone assassination to remove a dictator but if the alternative is to bring nuclear war to the people of Russia, whose only crime was to elect him in the first place then send in the hit squads and take the guy out like we did Bin-Laden. I don't see where there is much other choice. Either deal with him now or wait till he recovers full control and pay the price later.

I watched an interview on YouTube with an astronomer who claims there is virtually nothing we can do (with current technology) to deflect or destroy any incoming asteroid or comet. Even with months of warning and possible knowledge of where it will strike it is doubtful that many lives can be saved.

Yeah it's looking more and more like a band of renegade thugs were turned loose in the Ukraine and not a professional army. Or more like a viking attack just a bunch of rape, pillaging and burning, just with modern toys instead of swords and axes.

So, he is a coward along with everything else. I still find it hard to believe that in this day and age a leader of such a major country thinks the rest of the world is out to take over Russia. Who would want the hassle.

It looks like to me that the top brass in Moscow has spent too much of their military budget on expensive playtoys like billion dollar yachts. Putin should be looking for a face saving way out of the mess he has created before one of his cronies does it for him.

Is it possible that in the kremlin's extreme greed for wealth that they have sown the seeds for disaster thru the procurement of substandard parts and equipment for their military forces. I expected this "war" to be over within a week of Russian troops crossing the border. Maybe it was a big bluff and the Ukraine called it. Now Putin is stuck and hasn't got a way out that will save face.

Russia would not let Space X take over the ISS for obvious reasons. It's life is only up until 2030 anyway.

It's life is open ended. As long as they periodically boost the ISS's orbit it can stay up indefinitely. The question is, does spaceX or anyone else feel it is worth the investment to keep it operating after those that are currently maintaining it are finished.

I've never bothered to check but is it true that the ISS doesn't pass over any Russian territory? I would love to see SpaceX take over management of the ISS.

I saw an interesting video on YouTube regarding the sad state of repair of much of Russia's military equipment. According to a US logistics expert, equipment such as the trucks that are bogged down in the Ukraine, is plagued with failures that are due to extremely poor quality in procurement and a total lack of maintenance. The example cited are the tires used on heavy transport equipment that are designed to be able to inflate or deflate depending on the terrain being crossed. The problem is that the people in charge of production elected to skimp on quality materials and pocket the funds that were intended to procure the materials. So after several years of sitting in depots with little or no maintenance when the vehicles were called into service for Putin's incursion into the Ukraine many of the tires have gone flat due to dry rot. It seems that the Russian leaders were more interested in acquiring expensive dachas, yachts, cars and etc. than they were in providing their army with quality equipment. Now when called upon to carry out those leader's orders much of Russia's military equipment is terribly substandard. As with much of what is seen on the various news services and YouTube this may be just another example of propaganda and wishful thinking but it does have a ring of truth to it. All that money the Russian leaders lead by Putin had to come from somewhere and it seams reasonable that in that system something like this could have happened.

So, next on Putin's agenda may be using biological warfare and blaming on the US and the Ukraine for starting it. Is it possible that there are some unknown Soviet labs in the Ukraine that Putin knows the location of? Is he that devious?

I think that attacking a nuclear power plant should be the straw that breaks the camel's back as far as direct intervention by NATO or some other coalition is concerned. Such an attack can have serious ramifications for all of europe. This is more proof that a madman is in charge of the second most powerful nation on earth. And just when I thought it was safe to go to bed at night.
NATO can't intervene Bob as it's only a defence alliance for member countries and unless a member country is attacked it has to stay out of it.

Putin's not playing by the rules, why should NATO? I'm sure they could find a loophole in the rules if need be.

But why? Can he not see that life in Russia and all of eastern europe has improved greatly since the fall of the U.S.S.R. His style of government is no longer relevant. If he is so power hungry then I hope that those who can remove him from leadership will do so very soon.
