Thank you Richard. You've put it better than I could.

The fact that GF 8 is CUDA capable it should be enough to run (again) CUDA app for S@H. Fact that is stated in the official documentation linked by Richard, which doesn't state min cuda capability 1.1 or otherwise.

That is an old thread (2008). Things have changed since then.

Guys.. look at this.. WU 557437398. I think THIS might be a problem 'application version SETI@home Enhanced v6.03' and granted credit 0

EDIT: sorry.. looked in the wrong place 4.43

As far as I know, SETI@home on CUDA requires compute capability 1.1 or later, which enables atomic functions and thus thread-safe programs. Most of the GeForce 8 and later cards have CC 1.1, with the exception of the 8800 GTS, 8800 GTX, and 8800 Ultra.

I'm crunching on 8800GTX with cuda 1.0 and doing well. 14-18 min per wu. So imo the minimum cuda requirement is 1.0.. as you can see

It sounds to me that the temp sensor is faulty if the temps don't change from idle to load. Try reading the sink temp with a digital thermometer and see if it's even close to your reported temps. If not.. you found the culprit. Check your warranty if it covers it.

To tell your client the capabilities of your PC you must edit the app_info with the correct (or approx.) flops of your cpu and gpu.

You can find here a tutorial hou you can do that.

After you do that you will see different estimates for cuda and non-cuda tasks. Good luck!

Download 2.3 Cuda dll's and extract them in seti@home project folder, replacing the old 2.2. You should see an improvement of ~30% to your cuda crunching times

I'm doing 2h per standard AR MB with my E5300

@Luke: I was going through your completed tasks an noticed very long times on the cpu, the gpu is ok but can do better (try the 2.3 CUDA dll's) comparing to my crappy rig.

Just my 1 and a half cent

[edit] Another reason for your low RAC probably is that you are not crunching 24/7

The last half cent

Except for the hybrid app which is the purpose of this thread.

That is the reason why I chose to give the short answer. The long answer is the thread itself.

You buy a Nvidia card.

Atm there is no application for ATI CAL

I've played around for a couple of days with all 3 frequencies and saw the biggest increase in performance if I maxed the shader frequency and a bit of memory. The core clock didn't had any (or very small) contribution.

But still I have an old card (8800GTX), probably the "newer" cards will perform differently.

That's the only (at least safe) way I know you can OC your CPU. Anyway...

Try to follow the cables to make sure there are not other devices stealing power from the same rail.

Maybe a connector from the auxiliary PSU not plugged in properly.. dunno.. not experienced in aux PSU's

Plug the card alone and see if your having the same power problem, if yes than you found the culprit.. card is broken.

Try to connect as much as you can only to the aux PSU (exclude the GPU) just to rule out a problem with the power supply.

Just to be clear.. 170W of sustained power, not like the cheap PSU's out there (400W PEAK Power)

I have an 420W PSU and running without a hic-up, I even OC my cpu to 3.8 Gh from 2.6 (now running at 3.4Gh 1.31V just to be safe) and running stable, 3 HDDs one of witch is IDE (higher power requirement) 3GB of RAM, optical and other peripherals (usb hub, card reader).

Ah.. almost forgot.. OC'd the GPU too and still stable after a couple of hours of gaming.

My personal estimate is that a solo 8800GTX will need 170W tops but that is just my opinion and observed from the above circumstances, your card may be different.
