Scheduler request failed: Error 403
(Message 975797)
Posted 5 Mar 2010 by startrekforever Post: Was the Apache 'request' size increased, or did I need a 'response' size increased on your end? If the sizes are large enough I guess it must be my company's WebWasher proxy that is causing the issue. The issue still persists and I will not be making any changes to my server (resetting the project) until Monday. Thanks. |

Scheduler request failed: Error 403
(Message 974613)
Posted 27 Feb 2010 by startrekforever Post: The current sched_request*.xml file is about 2 MB, and I have no problems downloading larger files through HTTP, but maybe I do have an upload limit I am not aware of. Lowering the cache size does sound like something I would want to do, as the system in question has two NVidia 260s and can usually do over 300 units a day. The current setting for these machines is a 4 day cache. But, you are correct, 403 is a 'forbidden', so I may have to lower my cache to 1 or 2 days. Why is the scheduler request file so large though? Any workable workaround other than reducing my cache size? Thanks. |

Scheduler request failed: Error 403
(Message 974279)
Posted 27 Feb 2010 by startrekforever Post: The issue of getting "Scheduler request failed: Error 403' has been recurring on two of my systems about once a month or so and the only way I could get around this has been to reset the project. The problem usually occurs if I have several hundred tasks to report. Current system with the problem has 691 completed tasks. I am running the latest client. (This was previously posted, but no working fix was obtained at that time, and setting up a cc_config per one of the responders to the following: <cc_config> <options> <http_1_0>1</http_1_0> </options> </cc_config> did no good for my proxied servers.) The machines with the problem are running Win2008 Standard or Win2008 Standard R2 and are using a domain account. They both only do CUDA workunits. Any suggestions? Thanks. |

your least liked motherboard brand
(Message 966836)
Posted 30 Jan 2010 by startrekforever Post: I've been using P45 ASUS boards the last couple of years. Have built 7 systems, all Q6600s OCed to 3.2, using the Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme heatsinks. ASUS P5Q E and lately the PRO models. 8 to 16GB of memory. For those that had issues with the A7N8X, I had none and had 3 or 4 of those systems. The key to keeping any MB/system/HardDrive going is to make sure they have enough cooling. I've tried a Gigabyte and an MSI and they were fine. Least liked? Luckily have not run into one lately. The last bad board was an ABIT NF7, and that was after having several very good ABITs including one of the BP6 duallies. Asrocks are made by ASUS, but I hear they don't carry a very good warranty, so you may want to invest a few bucks more and get the real deal. |

Not requesting new tasks
(Message 951688)
Posted 2 Dec 2009 by startrekforever Post: Thanks, Ageless, but that was not it. Interestingly, I just started getting work again. I did two edits to my preferences in the past hour or so. One was to unhide my computers, and the other was possibly an editting error on my part a week or so ago. The 'Use Central Processing Unit (CPU)' on the Seti main (Primary - default) preference page was not on and I turned it on. Not too clear as to why there are two entries for 'use CPU' on that page. I currently control my various setups via app_info, using the Lunatics installer these days. So it seems I am ok for now. Thanks. |

Not requesting new tasks
(Message 951678)
Posted 2 Dec 2009 by startrekforever Post: I realize there have been various recent networking issues, but for the past two days or more my computers are now showing 'not requesting new tasks' when clearly I should be getting them. Some of my computers have run out of work even though I have 6 -10 days allocated as a buffer (between Home/School/Work setups of which I use all 3 setups to customize my targeted computers.) I am wondering if this is related to a change I made a week or two ago where I hid my computers, but changing that back to 'unhidden' did not do the trick just now. Any help would be appreciated. |

(Message 941488)
Posted 20 Oct 2009 by startrekforever Post: On my Win2008 servers I have set up a local 'Remote' user and go in as a non-Admin (no /console flag.) The Remote user is set as a system Admin, and as a BOINC Admin, so I can do what I need to do without affecting the currently logged on 'console' that has the NVidia drivers loaded. Once in a while someone will go in using /console and the local logged on user and my work units gets thrown out. I'll try the 6.10 series sooner or later. Thanks to the developers on their effort on getting the units to stick around! |

Scheduler request failed: Error 403
(Message 940858)
Posted 17 Oct 2009 by startrekforever Post: I have several machines running BOINC for Seti@home and over the course of the past few months as I ramp up CUDA systems I seem to be getting 'Scheduler request failed: Error 403' messages about once a month. When it happens it seems the only way to correct the issue has been to disconnect/uninstall and reinstall/reconnect. It bit me again today as I saw my MLIDVWINTA02 system getting the message after finishing up over 500 tasks and trying to report them. The tasks I did still see in my task window all finished within a minute which was very strange too. Since the system is in the office, running Server 2008 under a domain account, I cannot reset it remotely. (When using Remote Desktop and doing any restart of BOINC, BOINC never sees the CUDA processor since Remote Desktop goes in using a pseudo graphic system, so I always have to be in front of the system to do an install.) Anyone else been plagued with the 403 (HTTP code meaning 'forbidden') message? |

Posted 27 Aug 2009 by startrekforever Post: Thanks Eric. This sounds like my current issue for machine ID 5019936, but unsure. Posted in thread 'Client detached - but not', partially repeated here: "Right now I am seeing 'Scheduler request failed: Error 403' and have 569 tasks that are not going up." Is the issue being worked on going to correct my 403 error, which I do not see on any of my other machines? Should I detach and re-attach? Wouldn't I lose my 569 tasks though? Thanks. |
