Hi Again,

After trying to load linux, how do I boot from USB at startup. I realise that my old computer does not have boot sequence for USB (it's only cd/dvd, hdd and floppy) although it has 2 working USB port. Also, I try not to load linux using virtual machine as it defeats the purpose of running linux while being dependant on windows. Please advise.

Hi All,

I choose dotsch/UX because of it's BOINC built-into it. However, I find that downloading dotsch/UX is a big problem because it has this MDS checksum problem or very slow downloading speed. Looking at past comments at misc forums, some uses other distro such as madriva or puppy. However, this requires some manual installations of BOINC*.pet which is a problem to me as I am not very familiar with linux and that I would not know how to install BOINC on a running Linux OS that runs from a live CD or USB.

As I would like to use linux to run old pc, could anyone provide me with reliable links to other dotsch/UX sites or perhaps another linux distro that have BOINC built into it. Thanks.

I have another question on BOINC. Is it possible to use computers from different servers/ip but using only one account?

I read somewhere here that it is possible to use the power of LAN to crunch data for a single account. Let's say if you have PC1(server), PC2(client), PC3(client) and have BIONIC applcation install on PC1, how do you get PC2 and PC3 to crunch data as well. I am assuming that it is necessary to install BIONIC app on PC2 and PC3 but how about the configuration? Any easy to understand i.e. Step-By-Step instruction available?

I am thinking about life other than earth which is definately possible. even if we cannot find ET lifeforms in the next 100 years, I believe we can still find mutated / evolved version of earth-based lifeforms outside earth. This is possible because bacteria, viruses, worms and possibly small insects may have "smuggle" into space probe send out to space. But the funny thing is after so many exporation and research, man have yet to find these evolved / mutated earth lifeforms in other worlds. Have scientist just shrugged it of as nothing new?
