You keep talking about RAM and he is asking about a CPU, btw.

My laptop will not support stepping up in FSB, but it is BIOS limited. The best thing would be to find out if your model laptop is offered with the higher processor, that would be a good indicator. You could also go to Intel's site and do some research on the chipset of your laptop and see what it supports.

My machine with CUDA capability is still running seti-enhanced 5.28. How do I update that so CUDA might kick in? It is enabled on this machine and the drivers have been updated. Memory isn't a problem, my 8800GTS has 640K of RAM.

I hope you mean 640mb, not 640k LOL

It sounds like you have an old optimized app running still. Detach/reattach would be the easiest way in my experience.

the default for coprocessing should be 'No', and not 'Yes', since the projects do not own the equipment, by definition (not to mention common courtesy)! ;-)

Agreed.

Did you order from Tiger? If so, you might not want to look at this link..

If I knew how to compile anything I would. I just did some editing on the app_info to combine the AK_V8 and the AP files to make it easy to install.

If you had looked at his screenshot, they are mostly all Beta tasks.

19) Message boards : Number crunching : BoincView users - new BOINC release advice, please? (Message 838387)
Posted 10 Dec 2008 by Profile Daniel
Post:
The main issues I see are that BoincView delivers an error message in German once every few days, after which updates cease, and that there is nothing listed in BoincView's complete tab, ever (I miss it).

I get that error too, I thought it was just me.

On the wildly positive side, I enjoy 1.5 Beta 8's feature of allowing multiple result select in the standard Windows style for such functions as suspend, resume, abort, and Update.

The 6 series of BOINC allows that too.

In my experience the AMD laptops tend to run pretty hot. My core duo (last generation chip) laptop runs pretty cool even crunching 24/7.

Both of those are Vista and have at least 2gb so you're okay there, make sure that any laptop you get that runs Vista has at LEAST 2gb RAM.
