Number of Seti tasks on a Quadro 3800
(Message 1753323)
Posted 2 Jan 2016 by ![]() Post: Hey bud Your computer is hidden so can't see if you run Anonymous Tasks or not. If you are then you will need to edit your app_info.xml file in the C:\ProgramData\BOINC\projects\setiathome.berkeley.edu folder Set folder options- View and check show hidden files if you have not already What you need to change in app_info.xml is here Look below, this just a sample of my app_info.xml entry Where you see <count>1</count> change the 1 to .5 if you wish to run 2 tasks at once. It would be .3 for 3 tasks. Your memory on the card is what limits you. For 1 gig 2 tasks would be good. 3 or more you would need more ram on the card. <app_version> <app_name>astropulse_v7</app_name> <version_num>710</version_num> <platform>windows_x86_64</platform> <avg_ncpus>0.04</avg_ncpus> <max_ncpus>0.2</max_ncpus> <plan_class>opencl_nvidia_100</plan_class> <cmdline></cmdline> <coproc> <type>CUDA</type> <count>1</count> </coproc> <file_ref> <file_name>AP7_win_x86_SSE2_OpenCL_NV_r2887.exe</file_name> <main_program/> </file_ref> <file_ref> <file_name>libfftw3f-3-3-4_x86.dll</file_name> </file_ref> <file_ref> <file_name>AstroPulse_Kernels_r2887.cl</file_name> </file_ref> <file_ref> <file_name>ap_cmdline_win_x86_SSE2_OpenCL_NV.txt</file_name> <open_name>ap_cmdline.txt</open_name> </file_ref> </app_version> Hope this helps Michael Miles |

Lemons everywhere. The water on the beaches was like crystal. I love storms as well and some pretty big ones hit. Australia may be different but not by much I long to go back. [resolved] - :) - Nvidia driver after 337.88 keeps failing on Win7Pro 64 bit, what's wrong?
(Message 1752827)
Posted 1 Jan 2016 by ![]() Post: Hey Bro I would try taking off Hyperthreading and bump the voltage a bit. 1.25 should be good Make sure speedstep is off Are you reserving a core for each NV task? Your combiation is a bit curious. I would be thinking the driver is getting a bit messed up controlling both PCI-E and PCI Try removineg the 430 and see if that helps Also the sound component may be the problem. Reinstall driver as Admin an do a clean custom install with everything except Nvidia experience Just suggestions Bro I have had no problems running 337.88 on my 460 I also run a little ati HD and no problems Michael |

CPU Overclocking - is it possible?
(Message 1744978)
Posted 26 Nov 2015 by ![]() Post: Sure bro By staging I mean power phases The capacitors beside you cpu socket determine how many phases the power goes through. If there are 5 then you have a 4+1 stage power phase. If there are 10 then you have a 8+2 stage power phase. The more stages the power goes through the more stability your CPU will have. More phase means greater and cleaner electricity to be put into your CPU, therefor increases OC-ing ability and stability of your CPU. XMP profile means it locked to that profile. Just fine as long as it is on the profile your good. Placing off profile and on auto is a problem One other thing that was stressed to me. Do not be scared to use some voltage, just not too much Michael |

CPU Overclocking - is it possible?
(Message 1744969)
Posted 26 Nov 2015 by ![]() Post: Just to chime in here. I have overclocked my 1100T and stressed it with prime95 and it remained stable for days. As soon as I started Boinc running Seti it would BSOD Boinc is now the way I test my Overclock. It stresses the system far more than any stress program out there. Getting a CPU to remain stable is not just the CPU doing it as much as the staging of your motherboard. 4+1 is not suitable for OC. 8+1 or 8+2 is far better. Ram is always the main consideration. Taking them off auto is a must. Getting your timing correct is something of a trial and error deal that each and every board, Ram and CPU combo will face. Whether or not you run x86 or x64 is another factor. For some reasons x86 runs with higher stable OC. Whether or not your ram slots are totally populated is another one. Two works better than Four Weather or not you can Overclock by the CPU multiplier instead of pushing the FSB up is another big Factor, Always obtain unlocked CPU for the best OC. Finally take the stock block and fan off and throw it in the garbage because it is useless. Get a good cooler. Liquid based is the best but some air coolers are just fine. Coolmaster makes great coolers for air. I always take off my side plate to my box and place a small desk fan to cool it Watch out for wire biting kitties though. Speaking of Kitties you could do what Mark Sattler does. Use Freon based cooler and freeze your ass off Sorry mark. Your great in my book. Michael Miles |

Were we contacted by aliens in 1977?
(Message 1738434)
Posted 31 Oct 2015 by ![]() Post: The question of Roswell being a real event has a lot of maybe yes maybe no. I have to look at the results of the last 1000 years to see where the most growth of technology has taken place. The last 100 years we have seen a huge jump in the growth of our Technology. Why the jump? I would say the most knowledgeable man to contribute to our world had to be Nicoli Tesla. His work was beyond anything that has previously been worked on. He came up with ideas that were so far fetched but highly credible. He has given us the idea that nothing is impossible. So the thought of saying there is NO ET is just stupid.. There must be. This a pretty big universe or more probably a Multiverse that saying we are it is ludicrous. As far as the Roswell incident the secrecy involved by the US Government warrants acknowledgment that something did happen. If nothing did then why all the secrecy. As far as the pics we have seen of the Grey men they are truly false. There is no way that the US Government keeping such a secret would allow pictures to hit the public eye. Where did the ideas come from that explained how a saucer type craft was seen in the area many times. If we were to build a ship that was based on Anti gravity as a propulsion system how would it look. It would be a saucer with a spinning outer edge. Exactly what has been seen. We have now realized that such a machine is not only possible but I would say it is being built. I believe we have been visited many times in the past. Greek mythology about Gods coming from the sky or the Pictures that are drawn into rock walls in Egypt depicting a flying machine or South America showing the exact same Pictures is telling us we have been visited. I will leave you with a thought. What if a civilization had the capability to travel through time and Dimensions. What if they knew they were all going to die if they did not seed a planet far away. Their own system made up of many inhabited worlds of humanoids of different color and looks had to be saved. If I were them I would send a few from each world to a place they knew would be safe from the coming nova. What if that place was Earth. This world is made up of so many different races that it boggles the mind to think how did that happen To think that different weather or temperatures could change a mans features so much is kind of ridiculous. Evolution? I don't think so. No my friends if were to discover that man is so old and ancient that our lineage goes back millions of years instead of thousands would that shock you. Our scientists are now learning that we may be that old of a race. So if we talk about ET and finding other civilizations then maybe we should just turn the telescopes around and look at ourselves. Posted 17 Feb 2015 by ![]() Post: I had a virus called "help_decrypt" It came from a flashdrive that had only pictures on it. Nothing else. I plugged it into my machine and it passed the virus scan. Next morning all my movies, music, pictures ETC had a file in the same directory called help_Decrypt. When I clicked on a movie or picture it said pay 500 bucks and we will decrypt your system. yeah I'm sure they would. The only cure was a complete wipe. Ransom ware is so nasty I wish the police would do something about it. At least a flogging with fishhooks on a rope. Writers that do this to computers are psychotics and need to be dealt with as such. Meanwhile the culprit is probably a Anti-Virus company. I can sure see it. The companies that write and sell Anti-virus software need to have some thing to make people pay for their products. one division make the viruses the other makes Anti virus software |

Posted 24 Dec 2014 by ![]() Post: Like the Phenom 2 series the FX chips work best under the 990 chipset. I have tries the older chipsets and and different power phases but the best by far is the 990. I have the Gigabyte 990FXA UD3 Version 4 mow and stable at 4 GHz with core voltage 1.5. Stay away from boards that have 4+1 power phase and go with 8+2 The Phenom 2 1100T now is purring at 100% load and 40C temp. I use a coolmaster 212 Plus push and side plate off the box. Small deskfan to cool the Mobo. I have got this up to 4.4 and then needs more voltage. I have seen Phenom 2 at 1.55 but that is a bit scary temps Michael Miles |
