It seems that there is a rogue user, who released a trojan to install BOINC in machines illegally.
Both CPDN and PrimeGrid have identified this user as Wate (See: http://www.primegrid.com/orig/forum_thread.php?id=514#4817 and News: http://www.primegrid.com/ .... also CPDN: http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/forum_thread.php?id=5314)

Both those Projects have removed all credit from this user.

Although he doesn't seem to be running SETI, he does figure at No 5 in the Top 100 multi-project users (http://boinc.berkeley.edu/chart_list.php)

Anyone else agree this record should be erased totally?

Would you be so kind and check out my rig 3074825. I have updated to the latest version of Boinc and I think it is slow. Can you please advise if I can use this so called chicken soup. Which version shall I download and so on..

Your rig appears to have a Prescott P4, so the SSE3-Intel P4/PD version is recommended. And here's a related quote from the lunatics.at site:

I stayed with the 1.4 version and looking at my results done, with v 2.2, last night, not sure that it is as quick as previously. Will keep it under review at moment and wait for some VLARs and dreaded 58.7's to make final decision.

You don't have to worry. Unless something really strange happens, you will be verrrry pleased. I did the pre-release testing on the core 2, and the new SSSE3 app is MUCH faster on the 58.7s than 1.41.

If you look closely the 3ksec and 4 ksec times have been processed with pent 4 computers using the stock application. The 823sec result was using and overclocked core 2 duo using chickens optimised application.

The C2D cpu is probably 2 times faster than the P4's at stock speed and OC'd faster still, and using chicken's optimised app will have decreased the time by 30% or so. So the much faster crunching time is probably as expected.

Follow FMatson's advise and use the optimised app.

Kryten (aka setiboincdata) is being a bad boy again. A reboot fixed the upload problem, but now I'm unable to log in. I may need to run to the lab and give it another kick.

I have a few tricks to try, but I think we're going to need to replace kryten at some point in the near future. With what, I don't know.
