Got a bunch of errors on this host.
AK SSE2 works well but the latest AP SSE2 obviously doesn't.

PS: don't wait for the "in progess" Wu - that one got lost somewhere...

So for example, if someone cared about the RAC (which I do not), they would if indeed taking longer, benefit from running AP_5 to get a higher RAC as credits granted are higher than Enhanced with an optimized app?

...at least if don't use CUDA.

I run r112 which on my rig (core2duo 2.13gHz) and it takes about 40 hours to process an ap_v5 5.03 workunit, however credit is near 1216 per unit. Overall RAC would increase a lot over time given the extra credits? Correct me someone if I have misunderstood.

Right. I see it as a compensation for cpu-crunching. ;)

I had everything between 44.000sec and 60.000sec on my quads with the optimized app.
Since AP now pays very well, I decided to leave MB to the cuda folks. :P

I run milkyway as a spare project when seti is having issues - is there a list of supported cards as Id like to run MW@H on my ati and seti on my CPU???
I only have a X550 though, but it all helps..

AFAIK only HD38xx and HD48xx are supported right now, only windows and only one GPU.

Eric, just wanna remind you of something... :-)

...
So once again, I'm going to commit myself to trying to improve communication between the project staff and the volunteers. And this time I mean it. A posting a week, at least. I'll even try to keep some of them interesting, although as usual I won't promise to stick to SETI@home, Astronomy, or even life in the universe. Matt does a pretty good job of explaining the day to day challenges we face, so I'll spend time discussing broader topics.

Catch you next week.

Just wann a say THANK YOU to anyone envolved in the making of the new optimized AP apps!!
Looking at the completion times (and those of the stock app) puts a big smile on my face!

BTW, my rigs seem to like it too - they only download AP wus...

Hi everyone :)

I am crunching SETI primarily. Recently I started using CUDA client on my laptop, so I decided to use the CPU for ABC@home.

I tried to login to ABC with my SETI account, but could not. Then I registered a new account with the same email and username as my SETI accound.

BUT - I have two different cross-project identifiers and I suspect I have two different accounts for the total BOINC standings...

What did I do wrong?

You need at least one rig which is connected to both projects, then the CPID will sync all by itself...

Do you use any data substitution on server-side data cleanup (I mean, do you insert something in data array instead of removed radar pulses ? )
If yes, is it possible to mark these "blanked" areas in task header so client could know what areas are "true" ones and what contain some substituted stub data? Some list of indexes of blanked regions for example...

...so the client could skip those?

I'm not quite sure if it's good to make the APs even longer.
Many of those are already aborted because they take much longer than the 'usual' WUs. As a consequence it takes ages to get two valid results together (and 'pay out'), so RAC is falling and people opt out.
Not to mention those half done WUs lingering on the server.

Might be better to split bigger MB chunks...

Link to memtest?

Every (major distribution) Linux CD has it as a boot option, no need to install anything.

Yeah, I think the problem is that I felt that I needed to say something informative, educational, funny, interesting and important all at once which made blogging more difficult than it should have been.

I still may pontificate on occasion, but most postings will be shorter than that.

Eric, looking here and here might be a good occasion for being pontificate...

Especially the why (was it released early) and if (it affects science) are of great interest - at least to cool down the rumor mill.

From the new photo album (last pic):

And here are more servers we no longer use. Those Suns at the bottom of each pile were the driving force behind SETI classic (the user database server, the science database server, and the upload/download server). We don't have the heart to just toss this into the salvage bins. Anybody wanna buy any of this stuff before we donate it to the Smithsonian?

I think there are a lot of people out there making some good donations for that stuff!

Last time that question came up, I can recall being told that the stuff can't be sold because of campus / donation / whatever regulations...

Anyway, where can I place my bid?

what you need to do is set no new task wait for all task to be done then it should get the new app

I don't know, that's what I did, and reset the project as well before I allowed new tasks, but that's when I got the 6.03. That's why I decided to detach.

It's a new rig / fresh install - should not be any need to detach / reattach...
