They already pay the staff lawyers whether they raise these suits or not. Filling is a drop in the bucket to them, honestly they should be brought up under the RICO act. The courts should immediately dismiss the cases with a summery ruling that Monsanto pay all of the farmers expenses. Their using the courts as a player in their protection skeem. |

I have no clue if the case did or didn't. BUT, it doesn't really matter, simply by raising the suit it will cost thousands for the farmer being sued. It's the same tactic used by the militant gun control lobby. It's also used by "Earth first" groups to stop development. I hate the tactic, who ever uses it. side note: Is there a single surprise on this list? No. Are there worse offenders, why yes there are. Most major companies have 3rd world operations, and appling industrial country's standards makes all of them look bad. Child labor is a great example. We have the privilage of looking down on it, we have the privilage of believing there is something special and innocent about childhood. In many of the countries that have child labor "problems", those 12hrs working a dangerous machine in a sweatshop, is likely the safest those kids are all friggin day. Sadly it's a symptom of our standard of living, and it will continue until we are willing to pay more for less. |

Divided Government is Better Government
(Message 336124)
Posted 14 Jun 2006 by ![]() Post: With both parties goal of power and control, and their nasty habit of adopting the other party's methods and tactics, I really don't care who is in there. I just pray the current state of elections continues to keep competent people out of office. We'd get better governence from a lottery. Just randomly select tax returns ( this assumes it done honestly). Barring that, I think simply removing 1) straight ticket boxes and 2) party designations, from the ballot would do wonders. It might be a good idea, but it would take considerable discipline for it to work. There will always be an issue like Abortion, a truely blinding issue. Brains shutdown, all thought ceases, and the old guard takes the day again. They (a.k.a. the evil order of they) know it too... Beware Gun Control, Abortion, the Enviroment, and Education; they are the four horsemen, harbingers of the government eroding your rights or protections. |

Everyday's little annoyances and other rants...
(Message 335296)
Posted 13 Jun 2006 by ![]() Post: Unfortunately hydraulics do not do well at storing energy - that is most of the point of a hybrid. Store some energy now that would otherwise be wasted, and use it again later. Storing energy in a hydraulics system would require either huge pressures or moving some object against gravity. 5000 PSI accumulators (system cited 22 gallon tank)- is yielding 82% of the energy from stopping back to the wheels when restarting. (anything more should probably go in another thread) annoyances: I gotta go with Es99, Pedantric people annoy me (completely true, sorry about the timing) And for you're reading pleasure, a short rant about hypocritical enviromentalists: I simply hate these people. They secretly hate being outdoors, and I honestly think they feel so cheated by this, that they seek to take revenge on anyone who does. They divide and conquer all outdoor enthusists. The only thing I hate more than them, is the enthusists who don't see that once "the other guy" is locked out, that they are next. Screw every Hiker, Mountain biker, rock climber, and most signifigantly every horserider that lines up with these people. They are not your friends, once we're gone (snowmobile/ OHV/ wheelers/ hunters and fishermen) you'll see who your friend are. edited for spelling and grammar |

This might sound messed up, but hydraulics seem to be the system of choice for diesels (at least in the US). Kinda cool too, the systems are lighter, more durable (and servicable), and more efficient. |
