Not sure it's going to get better soon either. The site was more or less closed this morning (UK time) to allow the replica to catch up (I believe). However, I've noticed that is slowly slipping further behind.

Best to follow ML1's advice and attach to another project while you wait. It will sort itself out eventually.

That's what you get for being part of such a popular project!

Could someone explain why the uploads aren't getting through quickly even though the Cricket graphs are showing (generally) less than 50Mbs? Not complaining, just wondering.

Not sure if the fact the replica database is still offline has anything to do with this - I'm sure I've seen a lack of work units being sent out before when this happens.

I got a 'Validate Error' on one of my WUs:

What happens to this? Is there any further attempt to validate the WU?

Anyone tried BV with BOINC 6.4.5? Are they compatible?

The cricket graphs show no traffic since just after 15:00 Berkely time (I think that's 22:00 UTC):

Cricket Graphs

Could be the servers need a kick or the early start to the weekly outage advertised on the front page is a bit earlier than we all expected!

Of course, with bad luck, my system did an update, and I lost 8 hours to a reboot :-(

Are you running BOINC as a service? If you were, it would have started straight after the reboot even without you logging on - you then wouldn't have wasted that 8 hours. Wait until your AP unit has completed and then reinstall ensuring the install option 'Protected application execution' is checked. This will ensure BOINC runs as a service.

I've completed 3 or 4 AP WUs now, all around the 250000 - 300000 second mark and the highest I've been granted was about 760 - half of what I claimed. Here's an example that hasn't been granted as of writing (the others have dropped off the end of the list):

It does make me want to abort any further AP WUs until there's a fix or possibly at least a good explanation!

Thank you for your quick reply, and the reassurance. I was not aware that results were dependent on others finishing the WU (until now, I haven't read the fine print in the Message Boards).

I guess that with everyone running Astropulse, and the "pause" it injects into the flow, that depending on when their machine "gets around" to crunching the shorter WUs (ie: creating a regular flow), that the delays can be quite long, especially if they pause one to run something in a different project. Evident by seeing the same stats in my signature over different days.

It's just painfull to see the little red arrows in the stats, instead of the little green ones.

Thanks again.

Errm - unfortunately, yours stats will always have the same value. You're using a URL which always link to your latest figues. Have a look at your signature now and check back tomorrow - the same message will have the new figures (now that it appears the XML stats are being sent again). They look prety good as well (well, better than mine, anyway ;)).

BTW - I've had little blue ones for the past week!

Same here, Since the big down time,I'm not posting any credits, and what really hurts is some are from Astropulse.... they really count. I've also noticed, although this could be on my end, some Compute errors, which I've never had. And yes.... one was for s huge Astropulse job. Even sadder is that on some of my slower machines, they are justr about to pass their due date, because thet've been sitting almost a week.

Anyone have any good news to say we'll eventually get credit - at least for the in progress?

I wouldn't worry too much about your WUs about to pass their dates - if there are problems at the SETI end, these WUs are usually honoured.

You'll get the credit - eventually!

I've got two WUs that failed with a validate error:

http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/workunit.php?wuid=220451705
http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/workunit.php?wuid=220108370

For me, that's nearly 12 hours wasted unless there is retrospective crediting.

I've had six of these in total now. None of them (including those in my original post) have as yet been granted any credit.

I just got me some WORK! YIPPIEE!

Its Crunchin Time!

I got one unit on one machine out of three. I guess the server is being swamped as the others haven't managed to download anything yet.

Oh well! One's better than none.

Well done guys.

does anyone know what projects are good for a very slow machine??

You could try uFluids - although be warned - most of the units take about 15 minutes on my AMD XP1900+ machine, but occassionally you get one that takes up to two hours or longer.

At the very least, this Project (and particularly Matt) deserves an award for keeping us all informed.

Well done and good luck with the new server(s).
