agreed with everyone in the thread thus far. your posts are most definately useful!

and besides, if no one liked your posts, they can just screw off, because everyone is allowed to voice their opinion.

paul, you're probably the most useful man on the forum ;), keep up the good work, and your site too!

aye, i've got that on every WU.

i'm switching to CPDN while the storm is about, no point in processing anything that's not being used. I surely can't read the result file :P. I'll be back when it's over :)

no. i'm not complaining or whining damn it!

i'm not sure what you mean...

most credits or scores start from 0. take hockey for example, or basketball. when the games start, they start at zero. If you mean that you have SetiClassic workunits, (like xxx number of completed workunits) they don't get transferred to Seti2 (BOINC seti). If you mean you had credits from BOINC Seti, and they dropped to zero...I'm not sure what happened.

i don't even know if I would call it a bug...if it is, it ain't high on the priority list.

anyhoo, I was doing some testing in relation to minimized tabs (this thread http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=4234 i don't have time for HTML, just C + P) and I left it on the "disk" tab for most of the night, however, in keeping with precise CPU times, I suspended operations BEFORE opening the BOINC GUI window, (right - click), THEN when I opened the GUI window, the "messages" tab was up. now being as forgetful as I am, I thought I accidentally left it on the message tab, but after a few tries, the exact same thing happened.

whenever you are on any other tab (I tried with disk, and work) other then messages, right click the B icon in the system tray, and either click run, run with prefs, or suspend, once you open the GUI window, the "messages" tab is up, instead of whatever you left in on before.

I'm using BOINC 4.09 released 09-13-04, running only SETI for the duration of this test.

It's not a big deal, just want to see if I'm the only one :P. We got other more important things to fix.

~edit for clarification.

oh, and paul, the rumor may be true. significantly. I'll post what results I got later, but I have only 2 tabs done.

ahh, some bugs just have to be fixed with that, but a big part of the idea of BOINC is running multiple projects under one app.

In Time.

it's all in the plan. i just want to make sure it's possible first.

ah. this I didn't know.

but berkeley is having trouble just keeping the servers up. as soon (if) they do, i'll stop making them.

and i'll have detailed instructions anyways. and if they complain, let them complain. I'll make sure the site is around knowing what you are doing.
and CPU-Z will help here too :)

besides, it'll help my non-existant knowledge to better understand this stuff. That'll the part I really want.

also, what processor should I optimize for with the AMDs? (G5, G6, G7, blend)?

Is there a way to do this sman kind of thing for AMD processors using .NET 2003 (or maybe some other tool)?

I'm thinking of just starting a small page for people who don't want, have the tools, or are just too damn lazy to compile an optimized BOINC and SETI themselves, so they can share in the glory of faster science :P

just an idea i'm throwing around anyway.

Completely agreed. it's too "hidden" in it's current location. perhaps just eh same link under the news table, right beside or under "available as an RSS feed" would be perfect.

ok first of all, this should be in the question and problems forum, but i'll forgive you ;). second, we need to know your OS, SP's, prefs, anything you can give us about your specs.

ok, quick question for 'ya paul, bu minimized do you mean that you can see BOINC in the taskbar? or the B in the system tray?

I can do both, but it'll take longer... and I still hate school :P
