Hi

I also noticed a whole span of computers listed that seemed to correspond to each attempt to download data so I merged them too. I guess that's just another symptom of buggy software.

Steve, why not just download ver 4.4.5 from here:
http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download.php

Just remember to uninstall, then delete all files (the uninstaller doesn't do this) and then there are a few registry setting I removed as well, can't remember which ones.

The only issue with 4.4.5 is that it authenticates with your key, not your password, but you can have the key emailed to you from the project web pages.

I'm now happily crunching away on 5 different projects, including Seti which is back up now.

I'll try ver 5.2.15 when it comes out but I'm not holding my breath.

cheers
andy

A glimmer of light...

I trashed 5.2.13 on Linux and installed 4.4.5 it seemed to connect but wouldn't download work as there was not enough disk space. It's a Sles box running in vmware so has limited capacity. [shrug]

So, I completely uninstalled Boinc 5.2.13, fumigated my registry and reinstalled
ver 4.4.5 on my windows box.

I can now attach to the einstein project from both my windows and linux clients!
I can now also attach to seti, although it's deferring work for the moment but at least no 500 scheduler error :-)

I suspect that the case is that there is no seti work to do as Shane pointed out below but the 500 error has nothing to do with this.

There is now *NO* doubt in my mind that the 5.2.13 client is borked and the sooner that boinc volunteer staff accept this the better for us all. Yes it may work for some people, but not all.

What the exact issue is I don't know; this thread:
http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/forum_thread.php?id=3325
seems to hint at a TCP stack issue.

Will report back later

Hi Shane

I'm still getting the same error message as of 5 minutes ago on BOTH einstein and seti so your server theory doesn't hold water.

I see that a few more of the seti sah_splitter servers are running, but I suspect the problem we (us few clueless dimwits who can't configure boinc properly) are experiencing has nothing to do with the servers.

Heh! I just sat down to write an almost identical email as BishBosh's on the Boinc forum, then stumbled on this forum.

I am having exactly the same issues, but don't believe the Tech News story has anything to do with this issue.

I am experiencing exactly the same issues with the einstein and climate prediction projects.

So, who do we go to to get a straight answer. I suspect there are many more long standing contributors who are being chased away by boinc.

cheers
andy
