Always seem to be late to these celebrations; I hope not "fashionably" late!

Congratulations to all! Stalwart comrades and all that stuff

I am happy to be amongst all you crunchers

The spec for X1 PCI-e states that the max is 25W. I would think that the cards intended for an X1 slot should conform to that standard. YMMV of course, but I would think that if the MB is plumbed for X1, the traces should be able to handle it.

Happy to report crossing 4 million on SETI, and have dedicated the new machine to getting to 5 as quickly as possible. It will be easier now that it is getting cooler; the i7 990 and GTX 590 are real space heaters!!

Install manual at link:

http://www.coolermaster.com/xresserver01-DLFILE-P130607000186b8-F130607000241d5.html

has installs for combined LGA 1366/1156/1155/1150/775, and some separate
instructions for LGA 2011.

Hope this helps.

Also remember your case and RAM clearances, too!

I notice nobody has mentioned the blessing/bane of my new crunching, the
GTX 590. I got it as a hand-me-down gift, and while it sucks power like a
Dyson, it does manage to crank out decent numbers. It also doubles as a
space heater, which should be interesting when December rolls around. When
I first started its new career, it was running about 100C each side. I quickly
pulled it and took a look at the heat sink. Sure enough, it looked like the filter
on a Dyson!!! I cleaned it carefully, and now the thing runs at about 86-91C flat out.
This still isn't good for the long haul, but I am planning on replacing it with a Kepler or
Maxwell based card that doesn't cost arms and legs to run.

Hi gang!

I have been having a problem lately running Lunatics under 7.2.42. I normally run between 00:30 and 05:30; it is too bloody hot the rest of the time. Lately, I have been checking, and sometimes, 4 of the 9 CPU work unit threads will start over from 0, and I lose 8-9 processing hours just recovering from the backup. I haven't seen it affect GPU work units, just the CPU only WUs. Has anybody seen this sort of behavior, and if so, is there anything that can be done? It is only annoying, the world isn't collapsing on me, it is just curious that only 4 threads will give up and restart. Thanks in advance.

Well, I am nowhere up with the real crunchers, but I did hit 3 million today, a number I am happy to achieve. I do have a feeling that things will pick up soon, when I get a computer from this decade! Congrats to all crunchers, big and not-so-big!

Y'know, as vituperative as the rhetoric has gotten over whether the Prez is or isn't a socialist, I seem to remember the more-or-less exact same predictions made when "Slick Willy" took the presidency in 1992. His tax hikes would ruin the economy, there would be a recession the likes we would never see. We should take a slightly bigger view of what is going on here! Obama isn't a king, his proclamations don't become law. He was stymied even when he had a "lock" on the Senate, because of moderate to Blue Dog democrats. This millenialism detracts from real planning. If there is to be no future, we can quit looking for ETI right now!!

Glad to be here, I will be re-installing CUDA on my Ubuntu after I get moved.
My XP had to be revamped after it ate a disk. I am getting used to Linux,
and generally like it. I may have to load VM to get so I can play WoW, though ;-)
Thanks for everybody's work, though. A good gang to be a part of.

Hey Scott!

In one of the corners of your desktop, there should be the circle with the vertical line in the top that looks like the on/off button on electronics. If you click that and wait a few seconds, you should get a menu that has "System Settings" on it. If you click that, you should get a screen that looks a whole lot like the Windows Control Panel. You should be able to change your screen saver from there.

That said, there may not be a BOINC screensaver.

From one Linux Newb to another; good luck! I am still having the devil's time mounting and getting old data off of my Archive CD and DVDs!

Should be backwards compatible; I am looking over stuff for an A+ cert, and the guide says that the ISA card will fill the top part of the EISA slot.
