Yes, it sure does....

Oddly I have tried to reboot a few more times to recreate it under different circumstances and now it has stopped happening completely.

Heh... Odd but OK w/Me

The windows help forum wasn't much help

I know this wasn't happening to me on the previous version and I'm not even sure if it started just after updating to 4.05 or after that at some point.

http://users.dls.net/~mbrennecke/images/boinc_error.jpg

It only happens after a reboot then BOINC seems to carry on without issues.

2.4 P4, XP (not SP2) machine

Suggestions? Reinstall? Wait for new version?

I don't restart it that often so it's not a real big deal but you know how it is... just hate errors!!

It's no different than it was with S@H-1 though. Lot's of people had many PC's all under one computer account as individuals.

I hope they work on how they display the rankings and such. I'd like to see where I stand more easily. Against everyone, against my "class", etc

How about comparing people with the same amount of PC's?

1 vs 1
2 vs 2
3 vs 3
875 vs 875

Etc...

That would be interesting. At least with BOINC you can see how many PC's everyone has. It'll all work out... give it time.

I just picked up my first "BIG ONES" 3 WU's came in overnight with 31:00 hour completion times each... Wow.

I do my regular ones in about 2:00 hours and they are always estimated at around 5:11 so maybe I'll get these 31 hour ones done in about 13 or so I'd guess. (if it works that way)

I guess we'll have to just wait and see.

On my main PC All my WU's say 05:11:00 to completion but I always seem to get done in approx 02:00:00 hours CPU time.

I've been confused about the time to completion thing but I haven't seen any of the "super" WU's yet. Every day brings a new surprise!!!

I need to change the name of this post to "96 hours of BOINC = ????" :)

Maybe no one cares but i'm finding the pattern interesting, it sure is ramping up... not quite exponential but certainly not predictable

Yet another 96 hours... yippee

I understand the frustration and I agree that these issues should have been resolved before it was launched but we just have to live with what we have. Complaining to each other doesn't help and only makes some of us sound like babies. It's a volunteer project and if it bothers anyone so much you don't have to do it. They are only human and mistakes and underestimations happen for them like anyone else. Then add in the computer and network variable (we all know they can surprise the best of us with unexpected failures) and there is the potential for downtime.

Sure... rip on me and say how I wasn't in the beta and don't know anything, true I wasn't. But I recognize wasted complaining like anyone else should. I've been on and off of S@H1 since the beginning and I know that this project is also run by mostly students and on a shoestring budget.

I'm not trying to preach here... sorry if I sounded like it. I'm just saying that some positive reinforcement and appreciation will get us farther then any whining and negative talk.

Maybe if it wasn't such a fire pit around here we might get someone to post more often. I think I'd be reluctant to jump in with info too If I was going to be attacked.

Peace all.... have a beer or two

Back on topic: picked up a few more WU's overnight Not many but all my PC"s are busy for the moment. :)

In the last hour or so I've picked up at least 4 per machine.

It's a start!! I'm happier now!!

Everyone... Let's stop whining and give them to chance to work out some issues. Try to stay positive!! :)
