04.03.2010 08:51:09 Project communication failed: attempting access to reference site
04.03.2010 08:51:10 Internet access OK - project servers may be temporarily down.
04.03.2010 08:51:13 SETI@home Scheduler request failed: Server returned nothing (no headers, no data)

I get this since the last outtage all the time. I let it update automatically for the last 1.5 weeks, but nothing is coming through. It worked before I took a little break of S@h. I still get World Community Project, CPDN, GPUGrid and other WUs but none from Seti. Am I doing something wrong?
I got no software firewall activated except Windows Firewall which allows BOINC to communicate. My router firewall shouldn't trouble as well, since I get WU's from other projects.

Anyone having an idea?

Edit:
<master_url>http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/</master_url>

I got this from the client_state.xml. Is this still valid? I believe so.

Edit2:
<scheduler>http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi</scheduler>
<link rel="boinc_scheduler" href="http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi">

This is taken from the master_setiathome.berkeley.edu.xml. Is that a valid one?

Had one WU that got stuck at 0,000% and 1 second so far. Oddly enough the 2 cores shared 3 WUs after I cancelled that WU (http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/workunit.php?wuid=403063999). Seems to be working smooth now.

Kudos, Raimster!

Edit: had another one right after I posted. http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/workunit.php?wuid=403063986

Again, my two cores worked on 3 tasks simultaneously, leaving the GPU in idle.
I'm using a X2 4800+ and a 9800GT with your latest SSE3 package, if that helps.

Edit 2: After restarting Boinc, everything works again as it should, with 2 CPU and 1 GPU task.

OK. BTW, when you suspend AP task you will not get any SETI work, not more AP nor MB tasks. BOINC doesn't download work for projects with suspended tasks (as was mentioned earlier).

LOL. After I read your lines again just now, I looked over the AP WU's again and one of them was still suspended.. D'oh!
Sorry for making such a big deal out of it and thanks for all your help, guys!

You have enough work (from BOINC point of view) now. Don't forget, AstroPulse and MultiBeam - the same SETI project, so BOINC can't understand that AP uses CPU only and MB CUDA uses GPU only (unfortunately).
I process Einstein + SETI CUDA MB for that reason...

I even paused AstroPulse and still got nothing. I will let those AstroPulse units finish and see if the problems is still occuring.

*sigh*
Believe me, I tried that a dozen times. Here is the latest:
11.01.2009 18:36:03|SETI@home|Sending scheduler request: Requested by user. Requesting 0 seconds of work, reporting 0 completed tasks
11.01.2009 18:36:08|SETI@home|Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks

I don't get why Seti doesn't even request work when I update it manually. Other projects do that automatically when WUs are below the buffer. I set the buffer to 10 days to see if there is a change, but there isn't. :(

How much other unsuspended work do you have?, Could it be over 10 days worth?, Try suspending all projects bar Seti.
Do you have any Seti tasks suspended?, if you have even one suspended, Boinc won't ask for any Seti work.

Claggy

Edit: If you then just get AP work, try unselected AP in your preferences to force MB through.

The AstroPulse units should be worth 8 or 9 days, that's why I tried 10.

Right now I have one CPDN WU (suspended), 5 AstroPulse WU (running/waiting to run), 1 GPU GRID WU (running).
I had GPU GRID and the AP WU's suspended when requesting work though.

I'll keep you posted what happens when I run out of work.

I don't get no new WUs for SETI. I currently have 5 AP WUs and 1 CPDN as backup (paused). I'm using the 4c package with ap_5.00r69_SSE3.exe.

I just allowed new work for GPUgrid and instantly got a WU from them (http://www.gpugrid.net/results.php?hostid=21636).

I was wondering why I can't get any new SETI WUs for CUDA. When I used AK8 it worked like a charm but since you, raimster, put so much work to get CUDA to work halfway properly for us, I don't want to go back when I can use my GPU that is much faster. Any idea why I receive no new work?

By the way, thanks for already helping me/us so much with your work!

http://lunatics.kwsn.net/gpu-crunching/modified-seti-mb-cuda-opt-ap-package-for-full-gpu-utilize.msg12576.html#msg12576

It incorporates triplet overflow bug-fix provided by CUDA MB developer.
Should give invalid overflow on lesser amount of tasks now.
Other bugs still remain, debugging in progress, please, be patient.

I got a parse error when starting up Boinc. It works though, just want to let you know that you have "<app_version>" right before "</app_info>".

By the way, I happen to get no new tasks when using your app_info. Do you know why this is?

I've patched the Intel SSE3 Rev 2.0 app from Chicken successfully and let it run on my AMD 64 3500+. I happened to have two identical 0.439194 AR WU's right after another.
SSE 2 generic Chicken app: http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/result.php?resultid=473918377

3 seconds of SSE 2 and the rest with patched SSE 3 (as mentioned above)
http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/result.php?resultid=474339820

A difference of about a minute in favor for the patched SSE 3. Anyone else played with it yet and can share some results? I'll let it run further, problem is that I sometimes have my CPU overclocked, sometimes not. Both results are on the oc'ed CPU though.

It always worked well for me for many years, except crashing some WUs twice. But now I can prevent that by denying internet-connection-request-dialogues.

This is an error that has been associated with a video card driver in the past. Check and see if you have the newest ones, also if you are a Windows user, update your DirectX files. DirectX is updated every few months by MS.

I actually updated my video driver and DirectX last Friday in order to be able to play Armed Assault with some nice graphics and I/Seti was doing fine with it until I left on Sunday. I'll check it out on Thursday and will let you know if it helped.

I finally figured out what happened.
A program was asking for permission to access the Internet through my firewall (Zone Alarm) caused the crashes. That dialogue remained unnoticed for several hours, because I've not been on my PC, and that seemed to have caused a blockade of some CPU-cycles and the WUs crashed. When it happened the first time it was only a guess, but after the second time it became pretty clear that it wasn't a graphics card driver, even though the information the error code gave indicated that. It was the firewall dialogue that asked for Internet access. Thanks for your help though!
I wonder why it gave that error code instead of another. Actually I don't know how many exist, just glade I don't have many. ;-)

I'm using Chicken's app:
Version: Windows SSE2 32-bit 'Ni!' based on seti V5.15 'Chicken Good!'
Rev: (R-2.0|QxW|FFT:IPP_SSE2|Ben-Joe)
CPUID: 'AMD K8 Athlon 64 (Venice)'

Had no trouble when I switched over but all of a sudden something's messing up the WU's. Any suggestion what might have caused those problems?

Oh, sorry for not posting the log, but I can't access that PC at the moment. It's at home and I had somebody to shut it down but forgot to remind her of copying the log into a .txt before doing so.

I also don't know if a simple reboot would solve the issue, but I have no way to test that until Thursday since no one is at home for the next few days. :\\ I would be glad if someone had advice. I searched the Boinc Wiki but didn't come up with any good.

I've so far read this thread with great interest and much respect for anyone trying to build an optimized application for S@h Enhanced!

Since we're all starting to wonder how big the speedup might be, I found this url=http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/workunit.php?wuid=83883658]result. There were 2 AMD Athlon 64 3500+ crunching and Chicken of Angor's app on his 3500+ finished valid in 12.800 seconds. The other 3500+ took 20.070 seconds which would make a speedup of 36% for the Chicken of Angor application! WOW! I don't know if his cpu is still stock, but I assume it is (at least for the test phase of the opt. app).

I'm aware that this is not a general number, but I found another url=http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/workunit.php?wuid=83902818]result where Chicken of Angor's P4 2,66Ghz dualcore outcrunched a normal 2,66Ghz P4 by half the time (12280 vs 24760 seconds). One might argue that this isn't an exact comparison, because of the one core, two core thing, but that was not my intention anyhow. Just some really rough numbers to see where we are. :)
