Do a search for BoincDV and download it from Skips site. Run it.

It's a window$ program.....

I'll wait for a while, quiet in my corner without complaining, though.

I don't know how to get this numbers.

> How much work do you have waiting for the other projects, do any have deadlines coming close (particularly CPDN)?

No deadlines coming close. Come on... I know all this things.... I've been using boinc for a while now. Everything worked ok, then I updated boinc and the projects do not swap anymore.

> In Preferences, what do you have for Switch between applications every...?

1 hour

> What entries are you seeing in the Messages tab, would you copy and past a representative sample of them here, including those when you contact SETI@Home?

All messages are: begin Wu / end wu / upload / begin wu/ end wu / upload...
Never asks for more WU

This is also why we suggest not hiding your computers ... we can look ourselves. You can look at mine and see what I would see of yours ... there really is not much reason to hide them ...

And it does make it easier to help ...

Not hidden anymore.

First line of defense is the Wiki ...

I did that. Found nothing

The second is to clearly state the problem, describe your system, and ask clear questions.

I did that

If some one suggests you try something, you try that ...

Nobody suggested anything

I will be honest, I "patrol" the NC forum and I don't recall seeing your question ... So, this is one of the places to go ... ask away ...

This may seem a bit fatalist, but if you're not getting answers then maybe nobody knows.

That's what I thought, but my hope was that there was a way to get to the developers....

Your problem with Earliest Deadline First may be down to you running too many projects on a slow machine, and the computer is overcommitted. I can't tell from looking at your computers - they're hidden - and you haven't said how many projects you are running.

If you can provide a lot more information about your project list and specification of computer(s) maybe someone can give you a few pointers.

I'm running a Linux with 2 cpus. It's not a slow machine at all. And I'm running mainly Seti, CPDN, Einstein and Rosetta

Thanks

Hi all,

I've been asking some questions both on this forum and in the Help forum, but nobody answered. If no one answers, is there any other way to get help? I cannot ask in the /dev/ forum because I cannot get an account there.

Thank you,

G

Note for the moderators: I've been trying to get some answers to some problems I'm having with boinc. I've asked them on the forums but I got no answers. Is there any other way to get help?

Hi,

I'm running several projects on boinc and, even if none of the WUs is close to the deadline, boinc crunches each WU according to the most recent deadline, so it doesn't switch between projects.

Also, it doesn't ask from more WUs. So, as I'm running CPDN, once all other project WUs have been finished, it will run CPDN eternally.

Any suggestion? Thanks

Hi,

Please, could someone help me with this? The fonts that the boinc manager displays in my computer are so small that they are very hard to read. Any solution?

Hi all,

I'm using the last boincmgr available, version 5.1.8. But the font size it's using is so small that I can barely read it. Do you know how I can fix that?

thanks

Hi,

First of all, I was not complaining, I was informing that I had a WU pending for more than a year. This fact may be interesting to the developers or administratiors.

Second, I also have lots of WU pending, but these are recent WU and I didn't say anything about that.

Third, I don't think Seti@Home is in BETA period.

Fourth, If none says there's a bug, it cannot be fixed.

Last, Have a good day.

G

::::Not directed at any one person::::
QUIT the complaining, SETI folks are aware. The issue is being worked. We ALL have WUs that are pending. I have over 150 myself. They will be validated as soon as possible.
People, no-one is making you run SETI/BOINC. This is the BETA period for this program. This is when the bugs are worked out. Get used to it. IF the program ran with no issues, front end or back end, it would be production. This is NOT the case.
I enjoy running the SETI program. I am fully aware that this is still the BETA period for this project.

Sorry for the rant, I just get frustrated reading all the posts saying why isn't it working and fix it now.

Not only went AWOL, it also went to a party and is still suffering hangover...

This one has clearly gone AWOL. One of the results is still In Progress since August 2004. Didn't we have a DB outage about that time that trashed a bunch of WUs?

any idea if it runs the WU with the earlist report deadline until it's finished, without using the resource share we decided?

Because if that's how it works, then projects with short deadlines will have an advantage over projects like ClimatePrediction that would never run.

I tried in Linux, but it didn't work ok for me. Two reasons.

1- I think I doesn't have the fonts used in the left bar.
2- It does not connect to the localhost.
