On our "account" page, top right corner, there is a place for "badges".

I've only seen one badge, which is the "one percent" badge, which I have.

Are there others?

Wasn't able to find any more on this website.

I go to Connections and it is blank. how do I add a connection??

it runs 4 instances of seti at once!!

I have a Dell 4x 550mhz that is doing a good job on crunching, but even when I have changed the options to use 4 processors via seti@home, it still only crunches one at a time whereas my p4 dimension crunches 2 at a time..

what gives?

If you have installed the librarys I have posted in my last postings, you can also attach with the boinc manager :

another strange thing. I couldn't find a downloadable from sunfreeware. it was listed in exlib but not a link to download from.

that is what I was getting from the client

Can you please post the complete output beginning from the startup.
Also it is better to start the boinc_client from a terminal, and not with the filemanager.
It could also be, that in your boinc directory are two files called stderrdae.txt and stdoutdae.txt. - If the two files exist, can you please post the output, too.

In your computers list are no solaris system shown, so it looks like something going wrong with the attachment to the project...

thats all I am getting. :)

Also it is better to start the boinc_client from a terminal, and not with the filemanager.

what other way are you speaking of?

I can start boinc from console? or terminal?

btw, thanks for your help, your very kind to a newb :D

what I probably need is someone in the Austin area to let me come by and teach me the basics.

sheesh, just when I think I have something... I don't

I opened file manager, started run_client, it said insuffient work so I put in
/boinc_client -attach_project http://setiathome.berkely.edu ACCOUNT KEY
and it did nothing. yes, I changed "ACCOUNT KEY" to my account.

there was no instructions for boinc on a sparc computer so I tried the boinc on solaris x86 just so I could get a feeling for it. did no good.

but it did say to open boincmgr. so I did and it says
ld.so.1: boincmgr: fatal: libexpat.so.0: open failed: No such file or directory

did I miss a step somewhere?

ok, I figured out how to get the cmd line working but not sure how to enter my information

At the boinc wiwki : http://boinc-wiki.ath.cx/index.php?title=Main_Page is almost everything documented. - There are also a lot of good install dokumentations.

You need to attach to the project with this command : " boinc_client -attach_project http://setiathome.berkely.edu $ACCOUNT_KEY" <- Change $ACCOUNT_KEY in the command in the accountkey, you get from the project per email.

Cool.. thanks I guess I missed the wiki page
