What about Windows Vista RC1?
(Message 434230)
Posted 10 Oct 2006 by MrJeep Post: I can't get it to run on my Vista RC1. Did do a fresh install but no luck. Reinstalled Vista RC1 twice same problem. Ended up with lost data due to coruppted backup hard drive. Now I am stuck with my other old computer (WIN XP) This computer has been crunching wu for almost 3 years and no major problems. I would be very carefull with the Vista RC1. Another thing about Vista it doesn't support my Samsung laser printer. I am going back to WIN XP. |

BOINC 5.2.2 possible download issues?
(Message 181394)
Posted 23 Oct 2005 by MrJeep Post: MrJeep. LHC has had 4 months to upgrade their server software for this major version change. They don't seem to be in any hurry. I started a thread called "Are we ready for Major Version 5" and called attention to this a week or so ago. the users need to contact LHC and request that they upgrade their server software. It's not a Boinc Bug. mmciastro: I understand that not being able to run LHC on V5.2.2 is not a Boinc issue. I just followed recommendation to upgrade and as it turns out that was not a smart move on my part. I have just reinstalled my OS and figured might as well go with the new version. Important thing is I am back in business and crunching w.u. Thanks for the reply. MrJeep |

(Message 181247)
Posted 22 Oct 2005 by MrJeep Post: I had V5.2.2 on my computer two days but couldn't get it to run LHC so I switched today to the old Ver 4.5 and all is good. Will not upgrade to V5.2.2 until bugs are worked out. Lost a whole bunch of w.u. this way but what can one do when it just dosn't work . |

Posted 10 Aug 2005 by MrJeep Post: Looks to me that it is better but how does one increase the value of that number? Do I need a faster CPU, better motherboard? Pardon my stupid question but I am not a computer guru and don't know much about this subject. |
